He could have driven as long as he wanted, but they wanted to tour several countries and he wouldn't have been able to return the car to get it shipped to the US. Had he been flying out near the factory for his return to the U.S. he could have driven it the whole time.

salesmen and GAP insurance are crucial issues for people who are idiots (and i got GAP on my first new car b/c i honestly could not afford the hit at the time). that's kind of the point of this thread...too many salesmen at dealerships do that typical sleeze bag routine for people they should just be straight up with (intelligent customers who did research and have top shelf credit), and it annoys those customers
For what it's worth, I got GAP Insurance because I had a massive scare when two a-hole kids stole my previous car and torched the transmission. It almost wasn't paid for by my insurance because they were prepared to argue the transmission was going to go anyways so I had a worthless vehicle with 8k still on it that would have cost me a ton of money to fix. 15 dollars of gap insurance a month was fine with me, as my interest rate is like .49% or some random shite.

I have several CRNA's as clients. You are full of shite. They make a good living, but they are not pulling down crazy salaries.

No. Well known for what I do. My point wasn't bragging about how much salary I make. Hell, the anesthesiologist makes double of what I make. But, I can tell you I make much more money with better benefits than a car salesman/manager ever will. 250k? Lol that's baffling. Maybe at a very high end dealership on the west coast, but in Louisiana? Nah. That Robinson brothers ford guy tried to make some sleezy comment about living in the u club with his "loaded" 401k. That's also baffling and living in u club really isn't saying much.
My brother made just over 150k last year as a salesman. Selling Kia's in Little Rock.

I'm not in the car biz nor have I ever been but I personally know 3 car dealers who have a jet. One of them told me a few weeks back his top employee at their used store made $800k last year. There are many people in the car business who make a lot of money and don't remotely resemble the stereotypes everyone throws around.
Every CRNA I know makes a good living, but they're not buying jets or pulling down $500k+

No problem, I'm just going to enjoy my Sunday at my home in U club with my 4 year old. It's tough looking at this W-2 and loaded 401k knowing every car we've sold has absolutely come from fricking people over.
I'm guessing that your wife left you and/or cheated on you. Sounds like you have a micropenis

Next time ask them what department(s) are their "money makers".

I'd like to first apologize for my rant earlier. I was 6 mimosas in at sammys. Now I'd like to first start with I've only worked with two dealerships. One in Knoxville and one in Baton Rouge, both Ford. When a "tough" customer walks in we don't get mad, we just take it as a challenge to kind of mess with them.
This entire post was dogshit. This does not happen anywhere. At the end of the day were normal people that work 50 hours a week. This may have happened at shady dealerships you ran but not under the ones I've worked in for the last 5 years. We immediately fire people that try to commit any type of fraud because I'm not losing my job over someone else's b's.
In what shape is marking up an LDS gap policy from $450 to $650 600% markup? Generally an extended warranty is marked up around $600 and we try to make flats on rate from the credit union. We like every other dealership in LA have a $200 doc fee you can say you won't pay and we take it off. As for salespeople I have that average around 15-25 units a month, I let them control the price until we lose money. The newer guys just don't get it so a manager has to.
This business has a lot of floaters and they generally go to the bigger chains. Try the mom and pop type dealerships for a better sales experience.

Generally, that sales manager makes 250 a year bc he is willing to commit credit app fraud, pack deals, and use his salesman to manipulate the dumb customers.
Generally, that salesman is making over $100k bc he is will to do anything, from lying through his teeth to photoshopping a customer's poi to show that they make $6,000 a month as a cashier at the local Piggly 7/11.
Finally, and also generally, that finance guy is making $140k bc he has packed a deal; lied to the dumb customer about the bank requiring certain back-end products in order to finance them; had a ton of leg room penciled into the deal; begged a shady loan officer, who also works on commission, to give more money in the back so he can bust Shanekwaz arse with a 600% markup on warranty, gap, credit life, etc; and so on and so forth.

I just walk into the Ferrari dealership and pay cash, like any normal OT baller would. Wtf happened to this place? Broke asses haggling over $1500 at the local Hyundai dealership. It's pathetic.

I should have read another couple of sentences. I'm glad that you agree.

You mean the 2 that you've worked at in your entire life?

I listed several back end products, and you focused on one of the cheapest. Never sold a $700 warranty for $4495, because the bank cut you back in the front and you had to take a loss in the front?

I call bullshite. Your LDS rep is gonna hate your finance guy if he "generally" only marks it up $600. That might be his average per copy when you factor in cash deals and those who didn't buy warranty, but youreally lying through your teeth if you say that he only tries to sell warranties for $600 over cost. Does your owner have a pack for his warranties like some do? You need to factor that ~150 in if we're calling that $600 number profit.
And you know damn well you're tacking on that 2% reserve with the big banks.
Not all dealerships are shady as frick, but ALL dealerships play a little hide the ball with the customer.

Fightingchance.com is the BEST and only credible online resource on the internet. Every other resource is run/paid/reimbursed by dealers.
If you think the "invoice" price on KBB/Edmund's/Consumer reports is real, you're not very good at math or logic. There's only about a 6-8% gap between the fake internet invoice and MSRP, which is certainly not enough to pay for dealers' overhead and profit. The real dealer cost is far below the internet "invoice" price, as the dealer makes most of his money through undisclosed, volume driven incentives from distributors and/or manufacturers.
The entire internet pricing data market is designed to obscure the dealer's cost, so you think you got a deal.
FYI, Autonation, the largest and most successful publicly traded auto dealer makes about $1,800 per new car sold, net of sales and all dealer incentives. New cars comprised roughly 40% of revenue but only 9% of net income. Conversely, F&I comprised about 12% of revenue but nearly 40% of net income.
