I miss 2 of the 3 F's because (get the downvotes ready) I'd rather watch LSU on TV than go to the games more than once every couple of years. So football is the least of the 3 F's.

Can I make the 3rd F fishing? Because I really miss fishing for Specks out of Venice.

No, I don't miss anything else abt BR. OK, Highland Coffee near LSU.

Isn't that where they filmed True Detective? That place looks like the depository of all the unsolved crimes in the state.

I grew up in BR and have been in and out of Louisiana for most of the time after college. In LA, I've lived in BR, NS, NOLA, Lafayette, Pineville and Ruston.

Look, I'm not going to disagree with a lot of these posts, but it's a serious decision when literally ALL of my family lived in LA for a long time. You do become that family member. It's tough to be close to your nieces and nephews if you have any.

If you don't have any family, or family that you are close to, the decision might be easier. But if you have a family pull outside of your nuclear family, living far away is tough. But there are some awesome places to live that put LA to shame in terms of Quality of Life.

Grew up in 70805 (the ghetto) of BR and my parents moved to Watson when I was 16. Went to LSU and bought my first home in BR when I was 23. BR was home. I moved to Naples, FL 3 years ago, just bought a house and can't imagine ever going back. Maybe for a football game. There is zero crime here, 10 minutes from the beach, salary is double, etc. It's like living in Stepford. The local news - Bear on the loose, poisonous frogs, alligators, heat, more bears...

I live just down the road from you in Winston-Salem. We moved up here a few years ago for my wife's job from BR. You'll love NC.

We especially like the Western part of the state in Boone, Asheville etc.

Mandeville.

Great public schools, lots of parks, clean city, no violent crime.

You are missing a fundamental concept: The areas with too many liberals for you are also the ones with the better schools. Stay where you are in LA, or move to AR, AL, MS, or whatever non-liberal enclave you prefer. But don't expect better schools.

Not necessarily. In this area Ascension, Zachary, Central, Livingston are all solidly conservative with decent schools. Same thing for the Houston burbs, Nashville burbs, Raleigh burbs, Dallas burbs etc.

ETA - my kids go to private schools anyway but I have plenty of places to choose from that aren't Boulder or Austin

As a Louisiana native and hopeful future Texas resident.... Louisiana is like no place else on earth, and I love it, but reserve the right to shite on it. It's a beautiful arse backwards place that will always be home, be it primary or secondary.

Bruh. You aren't lying. I just moved to Sugarland 3 months ago. The water here is shite. Such a pain in the arse to have to keep 5 gallon of filtered water on standby at all times.

Can't wait till I'm not OT poor and can buy a damn filtration system

Austin sucks. Would not move there. Way to much traffic and it is getting worse. You basically can not go anywhere between 7-5 every day and it is very expensive to live there. You will not get the bang for your buck in that city. Tons of homeless people everwhere begging you for money. To many freaks and weirdos. To many extreme backwards thinking liberals too.
