I live just down the road from you in Winston-Salem. We moved up here a few years ago for my wife's job from BR. You'll love NC.
We especially like the Western part of the state in Boone, Asheville etc.
Grew up & lived for 30 years in South Louisiana, moved to Charlotte in 2015. Absolutely enjoy living in the Carolinas. 4 actual, lengthy seasons. Short drives to the mountains or the coast for weekend trips. Quick 1.5 flight back to MSY to visit family.

La. is depressing in almost every important way. Sad to hear semi-illiterate parents brag about their smart kids in poor public schools. Will always be home, but Texas trumps La. in every way

Sorry we don't have enough money to spend on escorts. Maybe someday.

Anybody else seriously considered moving out of the BR area or Louisiana? I've lived in LA all my life.
Same, been here my whole life. But my business is here and things aren't so bad in the 337 so I'm staying.

Huey Long was the best thing to ever happen to this state.

Take your butt to the Texas Longhorn message board then. We don't want your trashy Texas self on the LSU boards or as a fan of LSU. Leave Texas man.

I don't have a wife or kids, but the best thing that ever happened to me was leaving Louisiana for good. The only places worse than Louisiana in the United States are Mississippi and New Jersey.
I miss my family and a few friends, but life is much better elsewhere.

I left 225 in 2003 to move to DFW. Was great for a while, then began to really hate the weather there. When hubs office threatened to close we decided to move back due to aging parents. (2014)
Three years later, I regret it. Hubs office in BR closed a year later and he took a massive pay cut. Employers here just do not pay well. The regressive tax structure is awful. The taxes are high, the roads are crumbling, the schools are awful, and crime and traffic are out of this world.
Despite the kindness of the people there's a hardness to them. Life is rough when you just get by and are taxed to death.
I can not wait to sell my home that did not flood ( yet) once my daughter gets out of high school. I am leaving for good and never looking back.
