Disappointing that BR can get behind an average chain restaurant but We can't support other local and awesome restaurants.
What good local restaurants have closed in the last few years because of lack of support?
And not something like Chelseas which closed because of building/landlord issues

Rent was outrageous and the landlord was a dick.

I wasn't in pressed when I went for lunch. The food was good, but the service was mediocre at best.

I wish I could afford a great steakhouse, but I guess the prices at Longhorn keep me from enjoying the finer things in life, young feller, or, fellerette..
dayum, just dayum.... Did you receive all your shots as a kid?

Does having A nerve prove that there is A brain cell, I'm not sure?

Tillman Fertita didn't get to be a billionaire by running a shoddy operation.
I can vouch for Tillman Fertita as being a smart business man. I tried to work for him and he told me to frick off. He made a wise decision not to hire me.
Isn't he buying back Joe's Crap Shack for pennies after he sold it to some wannabes for like a gillion dollars? The man knows real estate.
And I think he bought Saltgrass for cheap.

Life is about choices. Saltgrass isn't bad for the price point.

The Baton Rouge metro area has over 800k people. I'm pretty sure the unwashed masses flocking to a middling steak joint isn't going to mark the end local restaurants. If anything, it's going to kill Outback. So, yay?

I just drove through parking lot. Employees cars take up half the lot, people are fighting for spots that come open. You would think Fertita would have that figured out.

I love Saltgrass. Been to multiple locations - from Colorado Springs, to Pensacola. Never had a bad meal. Easily the best steak for the money you will find at a restaurant. From what I understand, essentially everything on their menu is made from scratch. I think that really sets them apart from other chains. Nothing gets shipped in frozen. Last time I was there, their GM (Colorado Springs) told me even the cream cheese frosting on the carrot cake is made from scratch. Amazing.

Agreed. There is enough residents and visitors in the area to keep the likes of Ruth Chris, Doe's and all the other $50 on up steak houses open.
I've eaten at Saltgrasses all over Texas while traveling for work. They aren't bad. Better than Outback. I ate at the one in Baton Rouge Thursday because my hotel was within walking distance. My 12 oz ribeye was under $25 and was pretty damn good. So it is what it is. A decent tasting steak that my arse did not have to cook.

Wowzers, they mix cream cheese and sugar all by themselves!?!

Snobs I tell you. lol Best steak I've had is the one that I cook on my deck. After seeing the comments about Salt Grass I have to think that these OT Ballers all make 7 figures and even eat Kobe beef in their fajitas. jeez
