Paris and LA just struck a deal to host Olympics in 2024/28

Hamburg, Rome and Budapest withdrew their 2024 bid, leaving only LA and Paris as bid cities.
The IOC approved a deal that will bypass the normal Olympic bidding process. The 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games will be awarded at the same time at the IOC's meeting in September.
The only thing still in the air is who gets 2024 and who has to wait, but rumblings are that Paris will get 2024 and LA will get 2028.
Paris 2024 has consistently taken a harder line, saying it would not consider waiting until 2028, while those stumping for LA2024 have indicated more flexibility in recent months. Garcetti has said he would push for some financial compensation, which likely would be channeled into youth sports, in return for deferring to Paris.

Awesome.
Tokyo
Paris
Los Angeles
That is a good line up of cities that shouldn't cause any major issues. Sochi and Rio were such f-ups.

There will be kick backs and deals made, regardless.

True.
However, they can't seem to give away a Winter Olympics. Beijng got 2022 over Almaty.
2026 bid cities are
Almaty
Erzurum
Innsbruck
Calgary
Patagonia
Sapparo
Sion
All are rocky though without the needed financial support

Man, nothing had our neighborhood buzzing in 1984 more than this guy the last time LA hosted. USA 1984 was the shite. I wish youth today got excited about the Olympics like we used to back in the dark ages.

Meanwhile the World Cup is getting Qatar and 4,000 dead bodies.

Is that 4,000 before or after they try to play soccer in 115 degree heat?

Well Beijing does have all the infrastructure to host the Olympics already built to be fair, but they're going to have to build some ski slopes worth a shite, because they sucked when I lived there.

I used to like the Olympics. I even went to some events in 1996 and 2000. After the 2004 games, I lost interest. I don't know why...just can't get into the spirit anymore.
I do wish a 20 ton safe would fall on Bob Costas and someone other than NBC broadcast the games.

Should be in one location, and reduce the number of sports. I remember hearing either Atlanta or LA have been the only cities to actually benefit from the games. I want to say Atlanta because the spread it out to surrounding cities.

Paris security will be a nightmare.

Would've been great to have LA 2024 so Trump would still be in office and all the crazies on the left could be pissed about him having a prominent role as president of the host country.

Paris is going to be a no go zone by 2024.

isn't LA the only olympics to ever turn a profit?
should just have it there every year

Didn't Baltimore decline a bid? At least LA has all the infrastructure mostly already built
