having a tiger parked next to where the visiting team enters tiger stadium is intimidating.

According to a University of Florida edjuhmucation, it's a lion.

No, it's not. They all know about Mike at this point, and it's not as if they let him out of his cage to wander around the visitors sideline.

True, but the cool factor was off the charts. Its not like they forced Mike to get in his trailer. I think if he's willing to get in, take him to the game.

Yeah.
Just spit balling here, but just because a tiger is willing to go in trailer does not mean he expects to be taken anywhere, much less to be paraded in front of 100,000 screaming drunks.

Maybe not the first time. Tigers are smart. If he doesn't like it, he won't do it again. Mike VI loved going into the stadium until the firework incident.

Do a hologram Mike in the cage. Would be a good project for an enterprising engineer.

Any word on old the Tiger is? Or if it is a full Bengal, doesnt matter that much to me but my parents told me about when Mike came to the basketball games, that is pretty cool.

To me Mike V is the most beloved mascot in college sports history IMO. The university grew as he did, not to get poetic but under his reign was some of our greatest sports figures and teams. His first LSU sporting event he saw Shaq, one of the greatest sports dynasties in baseball, his last was a national championship football team. Also the Vet school and trainers do amazing work and have multiple friends that are going into vet, that would just be amazing.

I am friends with a former Fla. State QB who played in TS. He said that one of the most vivid memories he has was when he was near the cage when they brought out Mike and Mike did his roar. My friend said it was the closest time he ever had in actually peeing in his pants! It really rattle him for a bit. He said it was the most intimidating place he had ever played.
I vote for Mike coming to the field on the big games

That was a fun game.

Unless you're really old and it wasn't in the 90s

I resent that comment-I've never been drunk in TS. I demand you change the number to 99,999.

I played with Mike V before a baseball game shortly after he arrived on campus. He was strong AF for a little guy. I love that cat.

They should get the new Mike used to crowds. Mike definitely plays a part in the intimidation factor for opponents.

I think a lot of Mike VI's aversion to getting in the cage was the cage itself. Remember all the previous Mike's were pure Bengal Tigers. VI was a mix between a Bengal and a Siberian. The latter one is much larger. Apparently VI was about 40-50% larger Tiger than the previous ones, so the cage of course was much more cramped for him. So after awhile he was smart enough to figure out...oh hell no I'm not getting in that damn thing. If they had built a larger cage where he could move around some,it may not have been problem. Oh well. Tradition was cool, but I guess it is over now, but still like having a Tiger on campus and hope all the PC garbage doesn't mean VII will be the last one.
