Will not touch.

I broke down and bout Madden 17 on Superbowl Sunday for like $20 and I feel like that was too much $.

The players legs and running animations are just terrible imo.

I just can't understand why they put a focus on creating an "arcade mode". It sounds ridiculous. Rex is on record saying it will include "missed tackles, huge hits, big offensive plays, lots of scoring". Wtf. Who want(s)(ed) anything like that?! Just a huge waste of time that should have went towards CFM. Or literally anything else. I, personally, think the game is going to look great. The Frostbite engine speaks for itself. The draft board, on the surface, sounds appealing. We've been asking for that. But I've also read that it has no logic for the most part. For example, if you have two QB's on your draft board and your team selects one of them in the 2nd round, if the other QB you had on your board is still there in the 3rd and is the highest rated player at that time, your team will again draft another QB. If that's the case, it's pretty dumb. But, it's something us CFM players have been asking for so something is better than nothing...Maybe? Ok, probably not. Hopefully player progression and regression is fixed, but I doubt it.

I was rewatching one of my games when I noticed how they walked/moved around. It took me about six months to notice I was always busy thinking about my next play weird as hell

From what I've seen of M18 it does look more natural.

Don't forget about reminiscing about how great EA's discontinued title NCAA Football despite it being much more buggy. Maybe next year!!!!

Worked out well for Washington when they drafted RG3 and Cousins

I'm not buying this year. MUT is a money grab and somehow they have gave every player the ability to jump 15 ft in the air when lurking over the middle

I have bought every Madden since 2003, and this is the least excited I've been about one.. No improvements to Franchise mode and they spent the bulk of their time working on some crap story mode that ends before you ever play in the NFL.

Yeah I feel like the franchise is slowly dying outside of the idiots who spend hundreds of dollars on Ultimate Team. I respect those who like it and actually grind, but it's apparent that mode is all they care about now. Nothing else matters.

I mean I agree with you guys but you guys act like the world is dying. It's still a good game. I don't even play MUT (Draft Champs ftw) but figured with the extra GameStop credits I'd be able to jump into it for a little before the grind consumes me.

You can join a league, play buddies, online ranked (this year there will be diff settings so yay for everyone!), Draft Champs, MUT or just as a time killer offline Franchise. They added the anti nano technology last year where the DL freezes if he's going through the line unblocked/glitches. Also cant move DL all over the field. Another huge positive from M17.

Meanwhile NCAA was so broken. I'd have to have my own personal rules for playing the CPU cuz it was so bad.

Just watched it again.

The animations look good. I like the control. The attention to detail is awesome. I love hearing the crowd noise and seeing the different entrances in the beginning. Brady's signature throw animation looks crisp.

One thing to note with all the on field visuals is that this trailer might've been done in Arcade mode? The three game modes are: Sim, Arcade, and competitive.

The three gameplay styles

I'm busy today but later tonight I'll be able to make some bullett points for those not wanting to click link.

It sounds like you can't play sim in H2H ranked. EA dropped the ball there as myself and a lot of others were looking forward to that. Competitive sounds like a watered down version of sim though tbh. Arcade would be fun if I was 12 again

I think this will help those who don't understand sliders. The base All Madden sliders don't help (a lot) if you want true sim gameplay. Joe Blow can now make a CFM under sim and be satisfied assuming EA does it right. I'd bet they used some pointers from some of the OS sim slider sets that I've adopted.

On a board composed of college football enthusiasts, there's probably 20 (being generous) people clamoring for another NCAA game. Most people don't care. Esp the casual fans of the game won't be interested in a completely random college football game
Ah man, I still miss the sim NCAA football league days. I played in the GOAT online league for about 10 years or so(real time.) It was the only full 120 team online league to stick around that long. Or at least the only good one.

The main difference between the two, which basically everyone on both sides (sim and comp) are both complaining about, is that there are no injuries in competitive mode. And there's no way, at this time, to turn them on. I don't see the huge problem with that personally, but some people are up-in-arms about it.

The main thing I have a problem with, and this goes for every game mode but specifically hurts the CFM sim guys, is that when using the new Target Passing, QB attributes do not matter whatsoever. So once again, it will be possible for guys like Brian Hoyer to put up Drew Bress-like numbers and look like Drew Brees while doing it. It's a nice idea, but if that's the case the execution of it just won't be there. It really could be an easy fix, and definitely has potential, but as it is that's just a new feature that is pointless and almost a deterrent for anyone playing in an online CFM.

Well competitive has no injuries because it is what is used in H2H and MUT. Competitive is just a fancy word for their base setting for online play.

I was meaning competitive will have a more forgiving slider set than sim, however still working the same. Both will have an emphasis on user stick skill, anticipating routes, etc.

In sim you won't have a scrub WR catching everything where in comp you can.

Right now it's just scepulation about the target passing but that is my worry. Technically speaking this has been a feature since Madden 13 or Madden 25. They scaled it back in recent years because it was pretty OP. If you remember correctly NCAA 13 had this feature too. We'll see. I'd guess better QBs have more control whereas QBs such as Hoyer when leading a WR, will have more overthrows. The guys in my league will be used to this already as we played with the QB accuracy slider at 40

They had the passing cone, from what I remember, which I think was a little different than this current setup. The devs have already came out and said that, as of now, QB attr. won't matter when using TP. They've also though acknowledged a community members idea of how to improve that aspect of it and said it sounded great. If that has any affect on this release or not, who knows. I'm hopeful that they still have a little time to tweak it so that it incorporates the QB attr. It would go a long way to satisfying the players, IMO.

I haven't read much on the competitive game play, because frankly all I really play every year is my league games and I know we'll be running on sim. I actually agree with them when it comes to injuries in the game mode though. If you want games to be as competitive as possible star players shouldn't be exiting games because of injury.

Ratings for every player in Madden 18:

M18 Player Ratings

As you probably would've guessed, Saints pretty unattractive. As always.

Player ratings done by team

The ratings look pretty close from M17's final roster update. Mariota only an 80 was pretty shocking. Madden could do so much better with their ratings. Peat is a 74 despite his solid Guard play. Trai Turner is a 77 though he's a top 5 Guard.
