Pre ordered the GOAT edition after returning some old games to Gamestop. Who else is looking forward to this?

ETA: I've never pre ordered madden before. I was playing with house money and figured why not. With the head start in packs, I might give MUT a go this year.

I have bought every Madden since 2003, and this is the least excited I've been about one.. No improvements to Franchise mode and they spent the bulk of their time working on some crap story mode that ends before you ever play in the NFL.
The Frostbite engine will look great, but will undoubtedly come with more bugs than the rainforest.
(Not to mention the fact that they haven't released any gameplay or blogs about the game which releases in one month.)

I agree with this. I'm very much against a stupid MyPlayer mode. It's ruined 2K and now it's going to possibly ruin madden. I run a madden league so it doesn't bug me as much about the franchise mode. Yes it is frustrating but I'm just used to it by now. I'd argue ty haven't made an major improvements to franchise mode since they went this route with M13. I see little to no point in an offline franchise. I hate the idea of assigning XP points myself as the season goes on. I think it's dumb and very unrealistic. But I'm a sim enthusiast. I know the fans wanted an CP system so their scrub players they spammed to get stats with become legends.

This has me very excited tbh. I'm hoping for less canned animation and more fluidity.
ETA: from a gaming perspective, participating in sim leagues last year was some of the most fun I've had. The league I ran and another I was partaking in were custom slider leagues which I prefer to Madden's arcade like sliders. Many tight games where every possession felt like a chess match. You knew instantly when you were playing somebody good. Sim leagues have a little bit of a learning curve (good ones at least) unless you're just natuarally really good at Madden, it takes a bit to pick up on your opponent's tendencies and his team's strengths.

Always get the itch to buy Madden but stop myself when I remember how fast it gets boring. Still holding out hope that NCAA will come back one day. Does anybody know why that can't release one with completely random players?

Because nobody will buy it.
On a board composed of college football enthusiasts, there's probably 20 (being generous) people clamoring for another NCAA game. Most people don't care. Esp the casual fans of the game won't be interested in a completely random college football game.

I've read that there are still legal concerns with putting out a game like that.
There's an alternative universe where Ed O'Bannon's dad pulled out and that is a much better world.

I disagree. MyPlayer mode is probably the only reason why I enjoy playing 2K. I'm excited for the one in Madden. It adds something extra to the game. A story mode + sports.

So they already take their time away from making a franchise mode better with MUT, and now they add a shitastic my career mode that's half assed apparently. Like others said the Frostbite engine will look great but other than that what's different?

This! I miss the days of getting NCAA day one and then looking online for the first set of rosters to come out. I would totally be down for a game with generic players as long as the stadiums and teams are accurate.
