Here goes ESPN with the worthless graphics. Never fails.
Judge has more hr's his rookie year with his shoe laces tied left handed than anyone in history.... (just making this up as an example of the BS they put out)
ESPN's worthless stats are the worst

Mainly because 1 player doesn't make a huge difference in MLB. You also have that player (say Harper) standing around most of the game or sitting in the dugout waiting to bat. MLB could promote pitchers the way the NFL promotes QB's I guess, but that would be it.
It is much easier to watch a basketball game for 2 and a half hours and see James, Westbrook, Harden, Durant, Curry, etc for 90% of the game vs watching MLB and seeing Harper for 50% of it.
This is true.
Also basketball shoe deals are so big because they push merchandise more than any of the big 3. Because of one simple reason, people actually wear basketball shoes when not playing basketball.
Companies know it is a better investment when people that don't play actually can wear the shoe in public.
You don't see cleat collections like you do with Jordan's and Kobe's.
I mean Klay Thompson just got an 80 million dollar shoe deal.

I don't know why baseball doesn't take advantage of this like they did with Griffey. I feel like that is the only baseball player to ever have a shoe that people bought and wore in public (I still have mine from when I was 12, although they don't actually fit anymore ). I don't know, maybe he was just that marketable, but those shoes were still popular enough for Nike to re-release a retro version a couple years ago.

Lebron had a freaking Club Cadet lawn mower commercial.

Agreed I've said as much in the past. Manfred is lucky Judge fell in his lap. Being the biggest sports star in New York will take care of marketing by itself

I'm agreeing with you. Just laughing at the term.

Dude, just look around when you go to a crowded public area next time.
Please comeback and let me know how many basketball shoes you see and how many non studded baseball shoes you see.

MLB really does a terrible job with marketing stars. NBA and NFL do extremely well with it.
Mike Trout is incredible, but a casual baseball fan couldn't point him out in a pic.

That could possibly happen, but Odell and Porzingis are very, very popular.

most MLB stars are white and Latino and don't physically stand out among their peers90% of the NBA is black, and you have a lot of players with the same body types, so how does Lebron, Curry, Durant and other standout among their league peers?
Take out LeBron because no one else has that body type
