Can we at least admit this is funny? It's really not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but imagining his reaction when he was told whoever was responsible for booking hotel rooms waited too late to get a luxury one is pretty damn funny.

Trump will reportedly stay at Hamburg's Senate guesthouse for the summit, with the U.S. Consulate General hosting his staff.

This is humorous. A famous hotelier fails to get a hotel room. Ironic. Funny. Good job.

How much will his current lodging cost, versus what a luxury hotel would cost?

Alternate thread title: "Trump avoids press-filled hotels to stay at consulate in effort to make it easier to conduct clandestine communications with Russia!"

Guess I was wrong thinking most people would find this funny. Like I said, it's really not a big deal, but can't be seen laughing at our dear leader.

It's pretty much a non-story. Anyone who have ever been involved with major trade shows or conferences knows that most hotel rooms for events like this are booked a year in advance.

The other world leaders could do so. Not so for Trump. He wasn't elected president until Nov of last year and inaugurated in Jan.

Again. Non story.

It's like the old joke of when a hotel tells you it's booked and you say, "well what if the President of the United States showed up and wanted a room, I bet you'd find one for him!"

Truly they exemplify the confluence between malevolence and incompetence.

Odd that the news was reporting Melania would be staying in the Hotel due to security concerns.

Incompetence at every level. The man is unfit for office. Hell he may not be fit to be a fry cook at Wendy's

It would not surprise me to find out that Obama's team cancelled the standing reservations when Hildabeest lost.

President Trump was left without a luxury hotel to stay at for the annual G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, this week after White House officials waited too long to book a hotel, Buzzfeed reported Thursday. The U.S. initially sought to accommodate Trump in the local Four Seasons hotel, only to find it was already fully booked by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, the report said. Other luxury hotels around Hamburg were similarly booked up by other key figures. The G-20 Summit, which was announced in February 2016, requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, staffs and security details. Trump will reportedly stay at Hamburg's Senate guesthouse for the summit, with the U.S. Consulate General hosting his staff. The Hotel Reichshof was taken by Vietnam’s delegation, Russian President Vladimir Putin is staying at the Park Hyatt and The Grand Elysée was booked by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.

So Trump heads the White House at the end of January 2017.
And hotels were being booked in February 2016. Hmmmmm.....
Who was in charge of the White House in February 2016???
Oh, right, Obama!!! Trump has gained a lot of experience cleaning up Barry's messes in just 6 months!! This actually is funny. MAGA on dude!

It would be funny if it weren't for the fact that it's another fabrication generated ONLY to make him look bad.

This event and venue has been planned since AT LEAST early 2016. This is not some "Hey, let's pop over to Iowa." thing. You KNEW this was going to have leaders and entourages from the largest, most wealthy countries, and that every media outlet and special interest was going to be there, and Hamburg is not some big convention destination with a surplus of hotels. Decent sized city, but it ain't Vegas (or even Frankfurt).

Is this something you would wait to book within the last 5 months, i.e., during the new administration? Hell, I have fairly modest trade shows in big cities that I book at least a year in advance.

Yes, an idiot President and his administration dropped the ball. It wasn't Trump, and propagating this story is nothing more than one more fake issue.
