What effect will the Super Bowl debacle have on the Falcons this coming

season?
Will it motivate them to go back and win the SB or will they sleep walk the entire season?
I've seen it go both ways after huge disappointments.

Probably neither as NFL isn't 5 starting players and hardly ever replicate from the prior years effort

No way they recover from that. That type of loss is a regime ending one.

Wishful thinking.
Truth is, Falcons have a tremendous future with tons of young talent. The NFL MVP, the best WR in the game, a top RB, and a very young and exciting defense, adding Poe along with the NFL sack leader from a season ago. Coming of a playoff run where we didn't have one of the top corners in the league.
Sarkisian replacing Shanahan is the biggest ? mark. But I'm pretty sure we're not going anywhere.

they will get to play New England in New England in October.
they win that, they will be just fine. They lose the same way, on Brady leading a massive comeback, they will all need therapy.

This is what Panthers fans were saying last year man

The Super Bowl Loser has not made it back to the Super Bowl since the Buffalo Bills.

Super Bowl Loser playoff stats last 10 seasons:
2007 Bears: missed playoffs
2008 Patriots: missed playoffs
2009 Cardinals: 1-1 (Divisional)
2010 Colts: 0-1 (WC)
2011 Steelers: 0-1 (WC)
2012 Patriots: 1-1 (AFCCG)
2013 49ers: 2-1 (NFCCG)
2014 Broncos: 0-1 (Divisional)
2015 Seahawks: 1-1 (Divisional)
2016 Panthers: missed playoffs
So the last 10 Super Bowl losers are 5-7 in the playoffs with only 2 even making it back to the Championship game and 3 missing the playoffs completely.
The NFL is a hard league.

Until you can actually tell me another reason you think so, I'll simply chalk the comparison as apples to oranges. The Panthers lost the super bowl with the MVP, true. But other than that, how are the situations comparable?
You can argue the SB hangover, but until we see how the team actually responds, all we have is what's on paper which reads very good for near future.

This sounds a lot like Panthers fans after their best team ever got Von Millered in SB50. Falcons fans have to hope they can ever get back there again with all precedent pointing out how difficult it is to succeed in the regular season and playoffs two years in a row after losing the SB.

Dude, they had a 25 point lead in second half of the fricking Super Bowl and they still lost it.
There's like 90% chance that they will be dealing with a complete mind frick of that happening especially with the usual super bowl hangover making that completely worse.
They will be hard pressed to get back to where they were even if they have all of that talent on paper still there.

10-11 wins.
People who compare the Falcons to the Panthers the year before need to get their brain checked. The Panthers lost their star CB, replaced their CB2 from that year a week into the season, then had to rely on an unproven DL to generate pressure. Offensively, they didn't address the OL and gambled on KBJ making a difference.
Fwiw, I'd have the Panthers 3rd in their division right now. It's the Falcons, Saints, then Panthers and Bucs.

Not sure what the effect will be on the Falcon franchise, but I do know they will be the joke of the NFL for decades...and I love that.

It's highly unlikely Matt Ryan will ever replicate that type of season again. Before last season he had a career rating through 8 seasons of 88 and a QBR of 70. Then suddenly he jumps to 117 and 83 respectively.
He most likely regresses to the mean this season. He's an above average QB but he's not a superstar. Now their defense should be better, but overall I doubt they catch lightening in s bottle again.

Falcons will have a strong team again. Don't see them sleepwalking or having a lackluster year.

Losing Shanahan is big.

Why are LSU fans as jealous of the Falcons as they are of the Tide?
