Dissent is appropriate here. The birth certificate isn't meant to be some sort of participation trophy. It's a record for the child to keep with them throughout their lives as a means of identification. The parents listed are meant to be the biological parents (if both are known).

Surely you aren't arguing that a family court would grant visitation, or custody, to a rapist if he was listed on the birth certificate?
They certainly would go after him for child support though.
I know it seems stupid but they do LINK /

I don't hate gays because they're gay. I hate them when they act like you.

I generally advocate for father's rights, because I know they often get a raw deal in family court. But I would fully support any law that disallowed a rapist from gaining visitation rights or custody of any child conceived

You can't post videos, you don't know how birth certificates work, and you don't know shite about taxation.
Yeah, I like my odds.

Another one?
This was already covered.

Let me know when two men can reproduce on their own and I'll think it's okay to list two men on the birth certificate.
This has nothing to do with marriage, whatsoever.
So do you also think that science is anti-gay? Because it's what prevents two homosexuals from being able to conceive.
Doesn't the left typically accuse "religious whackjobs" of denying science? I'm so confused.

This is a stupid point. There are same-sex couples that couldn't reproduce on their own. Should we require the fertility doctor and/or sperm donor's names on the birth certificate?

From the OP:
quote:
As the court noted on Monday, however, there was a huge problem with this claim: Arkansas already lists nonbiological parents on birth certificates. When a woman conceives via artificial insemination, for example, her child’s birth certificate lists her husband as the father. Indeed, when a woman gives birth in Arkansas, state law states that her husband be named as the father—even if he is known not to be a biological parent. These laws are quite sensible, as birth certificates are used for vital transactions in child-rearing, such as school enrollment and medical treatment. And yet, Arkansas refused to extend its birth certificate rules to cover same-sex parents.

Unless for instance they need an organ transplant. A birth certificate should list the biological parents. Adoptive parents are NOT the child's mother and father.

You sound level headed and interested in worthwhile discussion treating ideas equally and using logic and reason instead of discussion.

The documents should list the biological parents and if Arkansas was listing others who weren't biological parents, that should be the problem, not whether or not gays are included.

LOL WUT?
You know just b.c you are the parent of the child doesn't mean you can donate an organ to that child? They have to do all sort of testing before they can transplant any organ.
Furthermore, organ transplants are a pretty small use of birth certificates, hell I am not even sure they use them. You know what you use BCs for a lot though? Getting registered for school, where it would be very useful to have an adoptive parent on the BC.
Probably doesn't matter in the end though.

Doctor? No.
Sperm donor? If consent, yes. Otherwise treat like closed seal adoption.
