Although Ump was terrible...it was smart baseball by tigers.

Although the umps strike zone was terrible and seemed to favor us...
We continued to challenge the outside corner to see what he would call to our credit.
That is smart baseball. They did not and their pitching was just weaker than ours.
Also, we did score 6 runs with the same strike zone. I doubt a few more pitches called balls would have amounted to 6 runs for them...
A tighter strike zone may have lead to more runs for us as well. Ya never know!
A good win for us!

"Seemed"
Because our pitchers hit their spots. It was the same damn zone for both teams

He was calling that outside a strike every time. For both teams. Got Diechmann with that same shite and although I was bitching then, he did the same for our pitchers.

Beavers in a rage chewing their big arse tail off as Plate ump got an escort out of stadium by Homeland Security

The dude was consistent. They should have taken advantage.

A team would led their league in taking walks had a tough time staring to swing at balls. These calls helped the tigers way more. Good luck in the finals

Exactly. OSU jawing from their dugout. LSU just dealt with it.

How perfectly west coast of you. Waiting for someone else to hand you something instead of taking it for yourself.
Well you just got handed 2 more losses.
Good teams make adjustments.
Check out is at 11 chief.

Gilbert took advantage.
But that's only half of it.
LSU lineup was swinging at anything that was to the outside or tailing that way. Laid off anything inside (except for Smith, who somehow shortens his arms by 9").
That wide of a zone and an ump that has a fish eye lens for his glass eye, you better not go up there thinking you're gonna sit with the bat on your shoulders and let the pitcher work himself into a jam.
LSU adjusted on the hitting side. That's why you didn't see a lot of bitching from them.

We used the large strike zone and adjusted to it.
Our batters moved up in the batters box to be able to cover the outside off the plate.
Our batters swung the bat instead of standing around waiting for balls to be called and trying to get walks. We were aggressive and they were not aggressive. They were playing for walks that did not come.

Do we still fire Micah Gibbs?

Probably the worst strike caller I've seen in a long time, and after watching a lot of SEC games that's saying a lot. He has no clue where the strike zone is and proved it with both teams. Our pitchers took fair advantage of this most of the game, especially the outside corner. Gilbert was brilliant and kept OS off balance all day. Great day by so many guys, GEAUX TIGERS!

You pitch and defend the strike zone presented.
Period.
Bitching about it changes nothing on the scoreboard.

They can talk about how bad the ump was all day, but he didn't hit three homers today

It's not terrible if it's his zone both ways
I prefer a wider strike zone

It's called making adjustments as a hitter.
They knew after the first time around the order that he had a shitty strike zone. But it was consistently shitty. Good hitters can adjust if it's at least consistent.

LSU coaches and players adjusted to the zone in a number of ways, Oregon stuck their plan of taking pitches and running up pitch counts. This was not the game to do that because it was obvious Gilbert was on his game and the ump was giving the strike outside, your batters didn't protect with 2 strike. how many SO's looking were there? Your coaches and players inabilty to adjust cost you your dream season, not the terrible ump behind home plate.
