I'm guessing she was the youngest? That's what happened to my younger brother, he was always the baby and never held to the same standard as my other brother and me.

She is younger than both of us, plus we all have a younger brother. Like your case, the younger siblings were not held to the same standards as my older brother and I, and it has not turned out well for them. My younger brother is content to meander through life playing video games and watching anime, and when he does have a job, it's just a fast food place.
Thankfully he has moved out from my parents. Unfortunately, it is to Kentucky(with a group of his friends) so hopefully life will kick him in the balls and he will decide to grow up.

That makes sense, I've felt that attention that people get is more addictive than any drug. I believe it's part of the problem with society today in the facebook/instagram "likes" generation. Every "like" is a little hit that makes you feel good. Also, I think that's why most celebs are so fricked up in their personal lives, after the lime light goes away. To go from everyone caring what you do at every moment to people not giving you a second glance has got to be rough in your psyche.

Sounds like your mom is a big part of the problem.

Yeah, as I said, she feels like she must take care of and protect my sister.

She'll probably let your sister back in the first time she asks. The best thing for you and your brother to do is to say it's us or her.

Already did.

Even if your mother chooses her i think your dad will convince her that choosing you and your brother is the right choice of action.

I can only hope so. Both of my parents have been in poor health this past year.

Maybe then your sister will get locked up or something and she can rebound. Or she'll wind up dead in a ditch.

I have tried to get this point across to my mother, unsuccessfully.

Not just to my sister, but herself as well.

Sometimes you can catch them at a point before the drugs take a toll.

I don't have kids so I guess I can't say for sure, but I know what I would do we're I in a situation like this because of my personality so I will speak as my siblings as example.

If my siblings ever turned out like this, I would never want them to kill themselves, but I can tell you I would never enable them. I would do whatever I could to help, but once they show me they didn't want help id be done with it. At some point people have to take personal responsibility. That's what's wrong with this country.

Drugs are awful and addiction is real, but humans can overcome anything if they want to. Your sister and others know what they are doing is wrong, hut they know it's going to be hard to stop and don't want to deal with it. At some point you just have to let people go and mess up and hopefully they will learn. If not screw em.

Drug addiction is not the same thing as depression

And.....?
I did not say it was.
It is, however, a stupid choice to make in life.
I subscribe to the belief that the true meaning of life is: To choose.
It is a belief that we as humans were given free choice(by our Creator), to see what we would choose to do with our lives.
Seeing several members of my family as smokers when I was young, I decided to start smoking at the age of 11. Over the next 12 years, I would quit and start back several times. However, when my first daughter was on the way, I stopped, and have never started smoking again. I am around smokers all the time, and never go back to it.
When I was a teenager with several older friends, I became a heavy drinker at parties. Alcoholism, runs rampant through my family. I keep thousands of dollars worth of alcohol in curio cabinets in my home(because I like collecting the cool looking bottles), but since having kids I hardly ever drink. Not even enough to say that I have a drink a week.

I was diagnosed with severe depression while in the military, refused medication for it, went to counseling instead. Life is all about the choices we make, and what we allow to influence us.

I know a girl like you describe that I used to frick in high school. She went down a very bad path.

A couple of weeks ago she got killed in a car crash with some old skeezer. She left 2 kids behind and in all honesty, those kids will be better off.

Despite what Dough Boy said in Boyz N The Hood, you don't get AIDS from letting crackhoes suck your pecker.

Having been thru this, I can say your parents are enabling her and boyfriend, which can contribute to her likely death. I'm sorry you are having to go thru this. She has a chance if the enabling stops. If it doesn't stop, she will wrech havoc on entire family.
