You send Love or Thompson to a 3rd team and those assets to Pacers for George. Might take a bad contract or two, also. But yeah, the Lakers can send Russell and Zubic and just be done with it

Also remembered that Lakers is preferred destination for PG, so maybe they're confident that they can just get him after 2018 season, which would then make Cavs potential front runner.

Solo recruiting PG13
Well Solo is starting to publicly pitch Paul George on coming to NOLA to play the two. Guess solo ain't giving up that starting SF spot.

Guys don't leave after winning a title. If the Cavs get PG and win it all, I wouldn't be very confident he was coming if I were some crappy LA team.
I don't think the Lakers should mess around. Go get him, as long as it doesn't cost you Ingram or #2.

Guess we're gonna see what Magic can do.
Also Solo with the big sell. Haha come be our starting 2. If that bags us PG, Demps becomes ultimate chessmaster.

I would give up anyone besides Boogie and AD for PG-13 or Jimmy Butler. Whoever takes Asik can have him for free.

This is the path I'd take...
It may take more but if Minnesota really wants Jrue and are willing to part with Rubio I'd S&T Jrue for him...shorter contract for the Pels and it's no guarantee he'd take a discount to stay here if we got PG-13
Trade 2018 1st + 2019 Right-to-Swamp + 2020 1st, Omer Asik, Diallo, and QPon (they aren't getting three 1sts from anyone else IMO) for PG-13
Trade Tim Frazier & Alexis Ajinca for Kyle O'Quinn
Use MLE on Jonathon Simmons
Use BAE on Omri Casspi
Draft Derrick White (may have to split BAE or hope to use some of MLE to sign him since he's a second rd pick)
Sign Mo Speights to Vet Min
Re-Sign Dante Cunningham (thanks Aussie for pointing this out - thought it but forgot to put it)
Gives you...
Rubio / White / Cook
George / Moore / Crawford
Hill / Simmons / Casspi
Davis / Cunningham / Speights
Cousins / O'Quinn
I know this is very unlikely and I'm not even sure how feasible it is, but you create some trade exceptions to help bolster the roster, if need be, around the deadline. Plus, if it doesn't work you can still try to move Boogie & George at the deadline or if they leave in free agency you'll have to move AD. Better path than most.

Where have you seen that? It may have been the headline but if you're talking about the report from several days ago it actually said if they trade Rubio they'll be interested in any of the top PG FAs, not just Jrue.

What happened to Diallo?
Cunningham is a free agent also.

It's my conjecture, honestly.
Minny isn't getting any of the other top guys, IMO. Jrue makes the most sense to them. Don't think they'd get a better deal than that for Rubio unless they just want more picks.
I forgot to include Diallo in that PG-13 trade.

i would think the Pacers would be interested in Love. Love can produce big, efficient numbers and playing him next to Turner would be very interesting. it keeps them still somewhat relevant in the East, so they can keep selling tickets and likely get some home playoff gate.
that would be a hell of a series v the Warriors.
Kyrie, JR, George, LeBron, Thompson v Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Durant, Green?
yes please

If Pacers trade George, it's a full rebuild around Turner on a much slower timeline. No use for two seasons of Love and then having him walk. They would try to be horrible the next year or two and build through the draft
Posted on 6/19/17 at 8:42 am to BallHawk
Why would you want George for one year over Jrue for potentially 4-5 years? It's not like we're winning the title in 2017/2018

Like McNamara has said...Sure George has "made comments" about wanting the Lakers but they are still years away...have him come to NOLA with AD & Boogie and win and build chemistry and camaraderie and make him see the potential for a championship.
Jrue will most likely get overpaid and will clog our cap in 2 years even if we don't get PG-13 and prevent us from going all in on Wall or Klay when they hit the market.
This is as golden an opportunity as you're going to get to become a legit contender.

But at what cost do we take this risk? Do we mortgage our future like Brooklyn did for a guy that could easily not resign next year? Because that's probably the only way we out-bid other teams.
Also, if we signed Jrue and traded for George, There's no way we could afford to resign Boogie and George assuming they both wanted to resign right? So does going after George mean we let Jrue walk

I'd say so, that's why I'd want to still S&T Jrue for a Rubio who would be half the cost and half the commitment.
You also stretch Asik to open up room for the future.
If the George experiment fails and he and Boogie bolt you still have the ultimate reset button in AD. You move him for a ton of picks and you kick start your next rebuild.

AD and Boogie and Solo need to be flying out to where ever PG is and having a long friendly chat.
Demps can drive. But don't get out the Ford Explorer. Demps seems like a Ford Explorer guy.

Don't get me wrong, if we do it, I'll be as pumped as I was when we traded for Boogie. Maybe more. But it will worry the hell out of me too if we gave up what I expect us to give up.
Honestly, trading for PG will further deplete our depth and we won't have the bench to be true contenders next year. Especially since there will be an adjustment period in the beginning. But we'd be fun as hell and could maybe get to the WCF. I don't know if that's enough to get George to resign. It may be.
It's fun to think about but the truth is there are no reports out there that we're in the mix. That could easily change. But I just don't realistically see this happening.

Yes. What Paul George really costs you is the assets you'd need to move contracts and create cap space for when Jimmy Butler is a FA in a few years. So would you rather make a sales pitch to Paul George for an entire year, or have the ability to hope Jimmy Butler will choose you in FA?
