You're a nurse. The attending will tell to what to think

My advice to motorcycle riders...
Quit going to beautiful, relaxing places, without your damn muffler. Nobody thinks you're badass. Nobody thinks you're cool. We think you're an inconsiderate douchebag. And it just makes people hate you, and pity your desperate need for attention.
Also. You're not a rebel that's being persecuted. You're either a loser who made shitty personal choices, or a weekend warrior whose wife doesn't even want to frick them anymore. When nearly every hotel and restaurant in mountain towns feels the need to post "bikers welcome", you're no longer being persecuted like it's Easy Rider. You're just insecure, and they are coddling your fragile ego.

Your first assumption is accurate. Your second is not. You assume I'm not compassionate. I've given all the pain meds I have to give. I've discussed with the patient that he will not be pain free for a while and what to expect and what he can do to relieve his pain. I've called the doctor and asked for more meds. No dice, he's already getting enough to put two people on the floor.
His response was "can't you just knock me out till I heal".
It is all too normal for people to have unrealistic expectations after injuries or surgeries. I try to help people adjust those expectations.
When one is in a state like he is, one in which his own decisions contributed to this state. And then blaming it on bad luck!
And now he's crying. 43 years old. His family has left because they can't stand it anymore.
He's lucky because he will eventually be okay. The guy next door at 19 years old will not

Baby boomers account for 95% of motorcycle wrecks, whether they be the rider or the offending car driver. Fact.

19 year old was sitting at a stoplight and rear ended and launched 35-40 ft and landed on his head. He got his hands out and broke both wrists. Not enough to stop the impact. Broke the helmet. That guy has bad luck

You're 56 years old and all you've done with your life is be a murse?

Where's your research because I don't think it's true. Statistics?
I've seen a lot of them. Are you saying older folks on bikes are the problem? Young men take more risks. That is fact. Last week we had one who lost control while going over 100mph. Not a Boomer Didn't make it.
Age has little to do with it. Some of us are just thrill junkies and like the rush. I did. Except in my day fast cars were more prevalent. Like I said. Pushing the envelope and testing our limits I don't know why we do. But we do.
It's an interesting question though, some people pursue the adrenaline like they have a death wish PTSD is said to be related to this. I had a
Patient tell me once that being in a fire fight was the biggest rush he'd ever had. He had been pursuing that ever since the 1st gulf war. Unfortunately he was using meth to try to recreate the feeling
And also many bike wrecks aren't the fault of the riders. shite happens and there is little protection when it does. See 19y/o in previous post

I'm not 56. But it's my third career and I enjoy my job and I'm good at it in spite of whining occasionally

You don't even know how to respond to people on an internet message board. Take your meds, hydrate, say your AA prayer, and get over Darth cutting you off in traffic. Your 28 year old boss who drives a tricked out Yamaha will expect you to be fully alert for his daily debriefing on the catheter insersertions tomorrow morning.

I'm sure you think your funny but nothing you have said is accurate but feel free to keep going if it amuses you

Motorcycles are Trashy with a capital T.
Except for moto-cross. Dirt bikes are cool.

My sister (yes a female nurse unlike you) treated a guy who laid his crotch rocket over on I-10 and the road rash melted his Levi's into his skin.
Every morning they had to pick each piece off while he screamed in agony.
Son's of Anarchy rise up

I sold mine after 3 people merged over in the lane I was in on the same day. I never got back on it. It's like people see you, but their brain doesn't register it since you're not the size of a car.

Why does it really matter to you?
Posted on 6/13/17 at 5:21 am to Nado Jenkins83
Do you feel the same about car wreck patients? There is risk there as well you know?
Posted on 6/13/17 at 5:25 am to chuckie
I have a friend that races bikes and he told me their are only two types of riders in this world. Those that have laid their bike down and those that are going to lay their bike down.

You sound like a wonderful person to be in the healthcare industry.
Remind me to just die if I ever find myself having to be in your care. I wouldn't want to spoil your day or anything.
Flippin douchebag...
P.S. find a new career, ya pussy...

So a guy, wants to be a big bad motorcycle rider, live on the edge, have women woo over his tough guy-ness....then he nearly dies and ends up in the hospital covered in road rash and broken bones. All the while he's stuck with........ a male nurse! Yeah, you'd hear my cries from down the hall.
I was hit by a car, broken jaw and a decent amount of road rash. To be honest most of it was not that painful (knocked out and doped up for most of it), but that road rash SUCKED. Especially the whole side of my face with a beard. But mine wasn't deep and was good in about 5 days. Couldn't imagine a severe case.

No you douche flute, What your OP was was a giant assumption about motorcycle riders followed up by your pissing and moaning about having do your job.
Your whole comment was the biggest shite bag statement I have ever read on TD and that's saying quite a bit. I can only hope to god they never let you around pediatrics.
