I have a Hamilton khaki King and freaking love it. It is amazing how accurate it is.

My next watch will be an Omega speedy pro though. Waiting to get my PE for that one.

$400-$500 will get you a very nice seiko and should get one with a sapphire crystal. They have a huge product line and while not the flashiest name out there, they're very solid watches that look good and are very well made. There's some micro brands out there that make good watches in that range as well.

An example of one of the "micro brands"

I'm not sure what you're looking for I didn't read this thread. They're always the same people saying the same shite

Marathon makes some cool mechanical hand wound watches in that price range as well. The options out there are limitless especially if you don't care about stuff like what movement type it has.

Very few reputable high end watch repairmen. I know of only one and he's in Zachary. I'd stick to something a little simpler. I'd also avoid batteries and go with an automatic.

For my everyday watch, it's a Fossil. Fossil has an 11 year warranty and I've only had to use it once on my many Fossils. If you want to get a good online price on any kind of watch including high end, check out www.jomashop.com Great selection, price and service.

Why wear a watch if you carry a phone?

Because it's not always convenient to pull out your phone to check time.

Yeah you should have clarified that

Then I would recommend a Tissot. They are really one of the best in that price range (i.e. Sapphire crystal, etc....). My cheapest watch in my collection is one of their higher end Automatic Chronograph with a skeleton back. I only really wear it when I wear a brown suit since it has a brown alligator skin band.

For the other watch nuts, I pulled the trigger on a Paneria Submersible today.

Just not a fan of the block Bell and Ross. If I was to get one I would get an aviator style and would rather invest that in an IWC Portuguese.

In regards to the acquisition, I had too, been looking at several and was down to it or the GMT. I got a better deal on the submersible and it is built like a tank so it will compete with a Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon as my every day watch. Now my only other buys will be a Franck Muller and an IWC. Then my collection is complete!

You ought to be able to get a nice Seiko for that range.

I bought my Orange Monster for $150 on craigslist and got a Nato band on Amazon for $7.

I have a Seiko automatic "dressier" watch that I haven't even fitted yet, and I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but I know I didn't spend any more than a couple hundred.

What's the watchmakers name in Zachary? I'd like to know. Thanks.
