“Thank you LSU for the past two years and memories I will never forget,” Burns wrote on Twitter. “It was an honor to represent LSU and be able to play for the best university in the world. I am thankful for Coach (Chuck) Winstead and Coach (Garrett) Runion for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. “With that said, I will be foregoing my final two years (of college eligibility) and turning pro in September, but will always be a Tiger. Forever LSU!!!”

Good kid, good golfer, bad choice. He's got plenty of money from family. Should stay in school.

He has stated that his lifelong goal was to play on the PGA tour. Probably not money related.

The PGA Tour would be there after he finished college barring a a catastrophic injury. He's after the money while he's hot.

Bittersweet, but glad for him to bring his game to the next level. I think he showed this year that his game is ready to compete at the next level. Good luck, and I'll be watching for you on the tour Sam Burns.

College will be there too if he doesn't make it.

This kid is good enough to go pro. Good call by him IMO.
Love seeing LSU guys repping the Tigers on tour. Loupe, Smylie, Peterson, etc.

Actually I saw LSU has like 5 of the top 40 golfers committed to LSU. Damn Chuck is such a beast

Not sure where you are getting that. He is signing a couple good players (one already started in the Spring). However, his success is generally with Louisiana players.
From what I recall, Gagne is the only really good get out of state in quite some time. For LSU to compete at the top level consistently, he needs to occasionally grab a few more from out of state when the choices in Louisiana are limited.
Wish Burns had stayed. Tigers would have been a contender next year with him.

Seriously? Our national champ team a couple years ago had starters from Arizona, Alabama, and England in our top five. Smylie Kaufman and John Peterson were from out of state too. Don't talk out of your arse so much.

^^^
He has Michael sanders and Garrett stauber. Both committed and from North Carolina and Florida. He has the #5 ranked player in 2019 committed from Texas.
Like the above posted noted-our last championship team was headlined by guys from England, Alabama, and Arizona.
We're a national brand in golf now. You just don't know what you're talking about

I got the name mixed up. His name is Garrett Barber, not sure where I got Stauber from other than our 800m runner in track
Barber and Sanders are both ranked in the top 30 in all classifications. Also there's plenty of time to sign more guys. The future looks bright

Then 2 more years of school shouldn't be an issue and he should go play professional golf.
