Would've been nice to have 4 Shreveport golfers repping LSU next year - for all the talk of him being ready for the tour, my opinion is that he could use another year of college to add consistency and maturity to his game. Absent unforeseen health issues, he has a lot of years ahead of him to play on the PGA tour. It's not like he's put up Speith or Tiger type numbers in college.

From what I recall, Gagne is the only really good get out of state in quite some time.

A wise business decision on his part. The longer he plays the better chance he gets a major.

I don't know about that, especially Speith. He's up for the Haskins Award, NCAA outstanding golfer of the year, and was top of the watch list after the regionals. He has the most wins in DI golf this year. The only thing that separates his resume from their's is the NCAA title and US Amateur. There are plenty of players on tour that haven't sniffed either. He'll have a shot at the amateur this summer and will be on the Walker Cup, two prestigious feathers he can put in his cap with wins there. He's got the game, and I think he'll do fine. starting in September puts him at a disadvantage though, as he'll likely start on the Web.com tour.

Yes, he's played well this year and I wish nothing but the best for him. There is an adjustment period that he will go through regardless, but the extra-successful 20 yr olds are few and far between. And the web.com and other minor tours are filled with top ex-college players from age 21-35+. He is obviously a cut above most of them with his resume to date, but for my own selfish reasons plus the maturity/consistency issue, I'd like to see him at LSU for another year to lead the team to a national title. They should be "that good".

His family doesn't have that big of money. Now Barbaree Jr that is a different story.

Seriously? Our national champ team a couple years ago had starters from Arizona, Alabama, and England in our top five. Smylie Kaufman and John Peterson were from out of state too. Don't talk out of your arse so much.

Correct.. and thanks for proving my point. "A couple years ago". With our current roster nearly all Louisiana talent, what has happened the last couple of years?

Thus my post was on point. We haven't recruited out of state much lately and we need to continue to do that in order stay in that top level of play.

Good kid, good golfer, bad choice. He's got plenty of money from family. Should stay in school

We're a national brand in golf now. You just don't know what you're talking about

Go look at our current roster and get back to me. Gagne is the only player producing that isn't from Louisiana. So, I do know what I am talking about.

Like the above posted noted-our last championship team was headlined by guys from England, Alabama, and Arizona.

And thanks again from backing up my post. When we have recruited well outside of Louisiana it lead to better results. Louisiana is producing some really great talent lately, however, Louisiana talent alone cannot get it done. Are you disputing this?

He is or if not one of the top amateurs in the world. When you are one of the top underclassmen you can come out and go pro. He has nothing to prove. Jordan Spieth came out as an underclassman and was in the same position as Burns. Burns may have not won the individual title but his game is good enough to turn pro early.

I'd say both of these fall under the category "quite some time". Would you not? and it surely wouldn't be too hard to see that the consistency of recruiting out of state hasn't been there.

Dude. I just pointed out that we have two out of state top 30 recruits signed for 2018 and a top 5 recruit from Texas in 2019. There's nothing really to discuss

Also I wanted to point out that barber and sanders are ranked top 30 in all classifications. They're top 10 overall guys for 2018.

Yes, we have recently taken a lot of instate guys, because they're that good. However weinsted has clearly shown he has national connections too, as shown by his past classes and incoming guys.

So you still really don't have a point
