"There’s this conversation that’s happening among people who follow the news industry which is: ‘How can be bridge this sort of gap between all of those conservatives who don’t trust the media  and get them to start knowing that we’re acting in good faith and with good intentions?’ Maybe you can’t. Because they’re not even listening. From the second, it’s not as if they’re reading the  article and considering it or listening to the audio and considering it, they’re just not paying attention to it because they don’t trust us."

Exhibit A:

"President has 2 scoops of ice cream, everyone else 1"

There's no way that he said all of that with a straight face.

I just don't understand how the print and news media can look at themselves with any honesty or objectivity and say there isn't a bias one way or the other. When the ratio of conservative vs. liberal thinkers is skewed in a way that drastically conflicts with the ratio of the public at large, there is simply no argument that can be accepted claiming any shroud of objectivity.

It's also not only about affirmative coverage of one view vs the other, but also incomplete views, as well as refrains from covering certain issues and/or investigating them all together.

That's fine, though. Bias will always persist in society when it comes to the way one thinks vs. the other. You cannot force conservatives to want to go into journalism. However, don't hold yourself out as an objective fact-based news organization. You are supposed to provide the public with the service of ameliorating information asymmetries. At least be honest and proclaim your bias so people know how the information you report should be filtered.

Its their complete inability to recognize that when everyone in the room thinks the same way, you cannot avoid bias, that completely ruins the press

I find it incomprehensible that they don't know this

It's not like they tried to rig presidential debates or anything.

I think most don't trust CNN because of their misguided headlines.

When you read a headline, and then almost always read a contradiction to that headliner in that very story, it's hard to continue reading the source.

I'll also add that the emails with CNN specifically colluding with Clinton team didn't help their cause.

It's not just conservatives- they just tally the lowest amount in terms of good to moderate faith in the media. Overall, only 32% of Americans trust the media.

14% of Republicans
30% of Independents
51% of Democrats
