If the person with the gun is struggling with an attacker and the attacker gets free and is going for a weapon (knife, brick, blunt object, etc.), the person with the gun might shoot the attacker to prevent them from getting said weapon.

Incriminating emails leaked to someone with a history of publicly releasing such things and suspected leaker is killed while walking home after a late night working for a campaign.

Person A and Person B are grappling.
Person B has a holstered gun around his waist.
Person A is able to lower one arm/hand, get the gun, and then wrap arm/hand (now, with pistol) back around Person B.
Person A shoots Person B once in the back. Person B flinches but does not release Person A.
So, Person A shoots Person B again.
Possible in this scenario that one or both of the bullets could go through Person B and hit the front of Person A.

either you cant read or you're not very intelligent. Brown was shot in the front because he was fighting a police officer.

I don't think so
He had his hands up when he was shot

This isn't a particularly weird scenario to be honest.

With my conspiracy glasses off, this is the default situation - also explains why there was no 'robbery.'
Would be interesting to see what the forensics said about distance from the victim to the shooter.
assassination - gun pretty close = powder residue.
Robbery gone awry, victim fleeing - distance probably more than 10-15 ft. - not a distance a hit man would normally act at.

I know it's not. People are shot over simple fights/arguments every day. Especially in urban areas with a history of lots of drugs and violence

It just seems bizarre to me that this would be the sloppiest hit in the history of hits.
Seth Rich walking back drunk from a bar may not have had the best decision making if confronted.
