Apparently not.

Mike Austin holds the world record for the longest drive in professional play, driving 515 yards at the Winterwood Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1974, blasting it 65 yards past the flag on the par-4 fifth. His golf swing, known as The Mike Austin Swing, is practiced and taught by current golf professionals.

I hit one like 370 a couple weeks ago at Frenchman's Bend in Monroe, about 15 mph tailwind and this fairways were like concrete. Sucks too, forget the hole number but water came in at 365, saw my ball a few feet in sitting in the mud (pond was more like a mud hole)

When 85 collapsed it took me 4 hours to drive 35 miles. But 85 is fixed now and it only takes me an hour to get to work.

361 at age 16. We actually went back and measured. I can't remember the name of the course, maybe Lexington something (could have been the name of the neighborhood). It was in Zephyr Hills, Florida.

I drove a green on a 340 something par 4 in 2007 on some muni in Omaha.

Hit a 5w out of a sand trap at the island about ten years ago. It was wet and the ball was far back in my swing. I put everything I had into the swing.

It was 270ish to the pin, I cleared the green, the next tee box, and the fence behind it. To this day I have no idea how.

Drove around the fence and onto the road and there my ball was with my name on it.

I usually hit my driver 240ish, about the same as my 4 iron off the tee. Never been able to control it when I put some heat into it.

Club pro, matt, was out there with me when it happened. The second I made contact he was out of the cart watching it fly.

Wierd things happen. But for a guy who's very short off the tee, that was something else.

Maybe around 300. It's really doesn't matter because I always slice the frick out of it.

Around 400. Playing in a tournament at Haleyville CC. 1st hole is a par 5, fairway was hard as a rock. Goes downhill past about 300.

Probably would have been a 320 or so anywhere else.

I know I wasn't the only guy hitting a SW into a par 5 for my 2nd shot that day.
