Nearly two-thirds of American moms these days (64.4 percent) are breadwinners, the researchers found. That's a hop from 63.3 percent in 2012, the year of the last analysis , and a leap from 1970, when roughly a quarter could claim the title.

quote:

Long gone are the days when the majority of middle- and upper-income women stayed home to raise families full time," the authors wrote. "Instead, in most families, either both parents work or the household is headed by a single parent."

Forty-two percent of mothers in the United States solely or mostly pull the wagon, while 22.4 bring home at least a quarter of household earnings.

quote:

The economic blow hits harder mothers of color, whose families are more likely to depend on them for income than white mothers' families are. Seventy-one percent of black mothers and 41 percent of Hispanic mothers were primary or sole breadwinners in 2015, the most recent data available, compared with 37 percent of white mothers, the CAP paper shows.

Presented without commentary.

So all you need to do to be the breadwinner as a woman is bring in a quarter of earnings?

I told the OL, if she gets the position that recently opened, and the 15K raise, i will gladly have children, and i'll stay home and watch them.

Mrs Rebel is a stay at home mom. She winds up having to take care of countless other latch key kids because their parents neglect them.

Lest we forget that in that very show, nearly every marriage imploded. The only one married at the end was Pete. Who knows why the frick a dime like Trudy stuck with him.

it's very easy to tell if a child is a latchkey kid.

I have a very hard time believing this is/was prevalent. Most (if not all) stay at home mothers I know are either trophy wives or do not make very much money, so it was more economical to stay home with the kids instead of working and sending them to to day care or preschool.

Having a wife who pulls in bank helps when it comes to salary negotiations.

Your employer knows you can walk and you and your kids will have money and health insurance.
