Damn price Leblanc wanted to change them out for $200 .
Got a 120k on it and want to change them anyway. I see refs for either NGK iridium or the factory denso ones. Pretty sure they both cost about the same.

Hard to go wrong with factory anything.

If the factory set did well for 120k, I'd go right back with them.

Just go to auto zone and they'll look it up for you on the computer

Yeh, those are the 2 that come up. I just wasn't sure which ones to use. The plugs aren't supposed to be changed until 120k.
Guess it's a good point that the factory ones lasted this long...

Definitely.
Changed the ones on my Yukon last year at 100k and put in factory AC Delcos. For something like a spark plug, not much reason to stray from factory stuff.

I just changed mine on my Ford about 3 weeks ago. AC Delco was factory. I think they were around $8-9 a piece.

Aren't you suppose to change the timing belt too?
Posted on 5/17/17 at 6:39 pm to HebertFest08
Toyota uses Denso IIRC
Posted on 5/17/17 at 6:57 pm to HebertFest08
Denso or NGK will do just fine, get whichever is cheaper. I personally run copper-cored plugs.

honestly, spark plugs damn near last the life of a vehicle nowadays...I'd say it doesn't really matter much at all which ones you get, as they will be the last set that the vehicle gets anyway.

No belt on the tundra.

On the older ones there most certainly is. Supposed to be changed at 85k. Changed mine at 150k and the mechanic called me a liar when I told him it was the original. He said it looked brand new when he took it off. I said "that mother fricker costs $100 just for the belt. It better last a long arse time."

Most single and dual overhead cam motors have a timing belt.
Luckily I've got an old school pushrod Chevy small block with a big timing chain.

Smaller ones, most OHC V8s are chain driven.

Small chain that will still stretch with time. Besides, $0.50 key in the cam gear is all that needs to go to lunch that motor...

Have you seen the timing chain on the ecoboost V6 motors? Looks like a damn bike chain .
It's unrelated, I just found it funny. I have a friend who was a Ford Diesel tech and he used to see some of his coworkers fix ecoboost motors. That timing chain was a common problem.

Yes but at a slower rate than a poly/nylon belt.

What motors wouldn't have that issue with foreign substances getting into the internals?

IIRC, the Tundras switched to chains when they went from the 4.7 old body style to the 5.7 in the new body style. It isn't hard to change the old belts, just time consuming
