We took the job and we are looking at areas to live. What do you guys recommend?
A buddy recommended Frisco. Looks very nice but real estate looks high. He saud Mckinney, Little Elm are nice but are allowing lower income families in amd Frisco is not.
Any other area I should look at? Looking to stay north of Dallas

It depends where you work. McKinney, East Plano and Allen are fine if you are going to work somewhere near 75. Frisco, Plano and Prosper are great if you work near the toll road. I am bias, but I think Frisco and Prosper have the best schools.

I didn't know that cities "allowed" people in by income. If you don't mind a longer commute you can pick from hundreds of new homes going up along 380 near Prosper/Frisco. I currently live in an apartment in SW Frisco and everything that I could possibly need is within a few miles of me. Traffic in Frisco isn't too bad, but that is expected to change once the expected 20,000-40,000 people move in to the area over the next half-decade. There are some areas south of the George Bush around the NDT along the border of Plano and Dallas that are still nice and not too expensive.

Fixer upper in the Lakewood area.

40,000 people? Where the hell are these people coming from?

If she is working in east ft worth then I would consider Grapevine or Coppell. Good schools and not too bad of a drive to FT worth.

I'd go north, toward Dennison/Sherman....more of a rural feel

All of these are viable answers. So many options in the north / north west corridor of DFW.

Friends live in McKinney. They have a kickass little downtown that is really hopping. Plus a nice brewery. Schools seem to be very good - the wife teaches there. Husband works at Texas Instruments and says the drive isn't "too bad".

The best answer here. Central to all of the highways. Great communities. Reasonable commute. Anything past Coppell makes getting to/from FW hellish during rush hour.

I'm heading that way as well. It's crazy how expensive real estate is.

And know that property taxes are effectively close to 2%

And did you mean east of Fort Worth or "east FW"? Cuz one could be a lot of places, the other means stop six...

The only correct answer here is Los Colinas.
