I coach a 6th grade baseball team and they want to forfeit 1-2 game

Because of final exams...
The first game is actually the Saturday BEFORE finals and the other one is on Wednesday during their finals week. And when I say they want to forfeit I mean their parents
Am I wrong to think that's a little silly? They're in 6th grade how much studying are they really doing?
It's a very good private school but still, they're 6th graders!

Difference in how much they study and how much the parents are expecting them to study

Call off the Wednesday game. Seems like a good compromise. Maybe the league will let you make it up.

Well that's the issue, these games are reschedules from rainouts and the league sent a memo a few weeks ago that they would no longer be able to accommodate reschedules

Cancel the games. Let them be kids.

Its 6th grade baseball.....

Cancel Wednesday, play the Saturday game. Regardless if there's a game on Saturday or not, a kid is not going to be studying for a damn middle school final on a Saturday.

Agreed. Or call the other team's coach and try to reschedule the game.
Whoops, just saw comment about no rescheduling..

This is looking like what will happen

Most good private schools have a "no activities during exams" policy.

It is 6th grade baseball.
That is even less important than middle school finals.

Hey don't get me wrong I in no way am trying to claim that 6th grade league baseball is some ultra important activity, I'm not that kind of guy.
I do however think it could be an opportunity to teach them about sticking to commitments and managing their time wisely, but really I don't have much say

Send the roster to the high schools in the area
Title the email QUITTERS LIST

So your impression is that 6th grade baseball is more important than studying for 6th grade finals?
Either way, the parents pay for the season, so pretty much what they say goes.

Depends on the culture you have developed. If it's he-haw have fun have good memories, then cancel and schedule a team party at a better date.
If it's a character building exercise and has been all season, that's the key, then play the games.
