They shouldnt be trying to segregate themselves from the rest of the students. The best thing about going to Harvard is the business connections.

I get your point that there weren't many slaves in New England but guess who organized, financed, insured, and manned many slave trade vessels?

If you guessed the ancestors of the judgemental Bostonians & the fellow New Englanders, you'd probably be warm or hot.

King gets put on a pedestal, but i wonder if he isn`t shot how he would have actually turned out as a great unifier or a race baiter , after all his closest associates were Jesse Jackson and John Lewis and we know what they became. i would like to think he would have actually worked for the day men were judged by their character but i have my doubts.

The silver lining is this likely keeps protestors and other folks wanting to show their asses out of the "regular" ceremony. I'd be all for it too.

I don't get it either. Could you imagine the uproar if white Southern Law students wanted to have a "white graduation"?

Yeah, I can't disagree with any of that.

However, Boston was also pretty much the leading Abolitionist bastion in the nation. I'd say Harvard's guilt has been somewhat assuaged by that.

But hey, "our historical struggle with slavery" sounds good today, so...
