Am I drunk or am I being reasonable in saying that the LSU runner from third could have potentially been thrown out at home if the left fielder would have actually tried to make a play. The runner had to check the catch and was likely 10ft from the base when he decided to throw it towards the stands.

Btw - I'm drunk regardless

That team has pretty much quit on Holbrook.

He'll be fired either this year or next.

No, Watson is the fastest baseball player in Louisiana history according to ESPN announcers. . Sober up.

He was running toward the foul line to field it. His momentum was still pulling him that way when he got to the ball. He had no chance.

Better question is why the hell do you give a guy who's 4-4 anything close to a hittable pitch when you have an open base with 1 out and the GW run 90 feet away.

Psyched we won but I was totally expecting the "unintentional" intentional there

It was worth a throw for sure. Anything could happen. What harm could it have done?

It was a pretty bad play to not even make an attempt. A perfect throw would probably have gotten him

Now that you pointed it out, I did not give it much thought at the time, but I remember the camera showing the hit and the outfielder's reaction, which included the ball bouncing up, him grabbing it and his disgust.

The next camera shot is the baserunner about 1/2 way from home plate speeding down the line. His distance from home plate after such a long lapse in time now makes sense with the tag-up explanation.

The left fielder must have thought Watson was cruising into home and just tossed it away in disgust.

Would've been a very hard throw to make, considering his momentum.

But not impossible.

I would be upset if a player on LSU did not attempt that throw. Definitely could've gotten him with a perfect toss.
