Yeah no ETF would mean a good hair cut in the short term. I've seen stuff like this happen since 2016. I have ice in my veins so I won't even flinch if that happens. The SEC can't stop Bitcoin from going up in 2024 no matter what they do. Hopefully they do the right thing and at least approve 1 Spot ETF.

Aptos, SUI, SEI in no particular order. I'm favoring SEI amongst a list of other shitcoins for the next 9-12 months.

Was going to make a thread asking this, but I know too many crypto threads piss off the normies

Anyway, can one or two of you OGs break down the relative safety of having your money sit for any length of time in a stable like USDT for me

The hypothetical, let’s say, is rolling gains out of some projects while you wait for a better entry on something like BTC or ETH. Again, just a hypothetical. But would you trust your money during a turbulent phase of the market for any serious length of time, say maybe 6mo - a year even?

Ive never really explored the risk of certain stables losing their peg/value in rough waters

There's some fear mongering about some of the USD coins out there, some warranted, most not. I'm personally never in there long enough to care as I try not to time the market.
If you're going to do it for 6mo to a year, why not just convert it back to USD on an exchange

That’s a fair enough question except I try and limit my CEX exposure to under $10k typically. And that’s honestly on the high side

And in my scenario, the “timing the market” approach is more limited to substantial enough gains in alts but BTC may not be in a zone during that period that I just want to roll the money right over. I was just curious how long seasoned crypto guys would feel comfortable sidelining their money into one of the stables

It, uh, was a scam. Heart is currently on the run from authorities.

In other news, ETF may be given the go ahead as early as Tuesday or Wednesday. My bags are packed. LINK

Sit tight killer. If you aren’t sitting real pretty in a year I will admit defeat and perma-ban myself.
