I've seen all combinations of the above. How is it done at your house and why?

My dog was supposed to be an outside dog....

She's laying on the couch next to me as I type this.

He never gets on the couch but that's his own choice. He does get up on the bed but doesn't really stay long.

They use to be in our bed but not anymore, they aren't suppose to be on the couch either but we don't enforce that hard. They are allowed on the guest bed

My 2 dogs sleep in the bed. One of them sleeps on side of me, in the same direct I sleep.. Head on pillow & everything, the other sleeps at the foot of the bed.

No furniture. They are outside mostly, but they come in for bad weather or here and there.

They cannot come past the living room, and I only let them come in the living room on occasion when they are clean.

I encourage my dogs to cuddle. My 135lb lab/rot was a world class cuddler. He would have sat on my lap while I was driving if he could.

My great pyredane doesn't cuddle as much, but she will still lay on top of my legs in bed for a while before getting in her bed on the floor for the night.

My dogs were never allowed on MY furniture. They have all had cushy beds of their own next to my bed. I always loved my dogs, but I didn't want them in my bed or in my pool.

Yes. They dont care about the couches...unless I'm sitting or laying on it, then its a battle zone for position.
