95% Of Jon Ossof's Campaign Donations Are From Outside State Of Georgia

Per AJC.
Ossof raised about $8.3M, 95% of which is from outside the state. The top 3 sources of his donations:
1) California
2) New York
3) Massachusetts
Only about 1% of his financial backing is from within the 6th district.
Karen Handel raised about $460K, 90% of which came from within Georgia.
Commentators say this campaign could become the most expensive House seat race in history as even more $ is expected to pour into Ossof's campaign from outside the state.

I still don't understand why california business leaders are desperate for the dem to win here.

I read this morning that only 2% of Joe Manchin's donations were from West Virginia.
Two fricking percent

What if we had a law that prevented donations from outside your district?
I'm struggling to understand or find a negative consequence.

It's pretty simple, actually: Democrats are desperate for a win. A win in a red state is even better, but a win is needed to change the perception that the D's are losers and on the decline after this last election. This is just step one in climbing back up on the horse but it's a critical step. They need a win here.

I assume the argument would be that minorities couldn't afford to run and whitey would run everything

We must not allow outside actors to influence our sacred election process.

Perhaps the greatest irony is that Ossof in his election night speech decried outside influence in the election.

I'm guessing that you don't think Citizens United was a bad decision by the Supreme Court.
But now that PACs can be funded by the big boys and operate anywhere in any race they choose, you want to restrict donations that go to directly to the candidates.

And the odd thing is that Ossof is making speeches about defeating 'the special interests'.

That's what I call grassroots

Aren't you a proponent of the Citizens United ruling?
I'm sure you were beating your chest when Gorsuch got confirmed.
Do you not understand the implications of your own political viewpoints?

I agree, they are looking for absolutely anything, no matter how small or insignificant, to call a rebuke of trump. Even the Super Bowl was hyped as a symbol of drumpf finally losing and history coming back to their side again (too bad for them). Now they are pumping millions into this race to build a narrative of a coming grassroots dem resurgence. Sad.

Classic Prog move: lie then tell everyone your opposition is doing what you are actually doing yourself. Then rely on the MSM and useful idiots to carry the water.

It's the new Democratic strategy. Vice News did a big story about it. Identify races which are possible to flip, and volunteers from around the country set up centers to focus their efforts. It's a grass roots effort and it's a good strategy. Nothing wrong with it, we're all Americans here.

Hmmm...95%...seems low...

So the Dumbocrats are going to spend 20-30 million and lose.
Even if somehow they win, ever hear of a pyrrhic victory?
