Pack some essentials and wait with my grips out by the mailbox for the government bus to take me to my assigned camp.

That sounds highly optimistic to put it mildly.

It is, but I've seen the resource they use to do so...OG&E in Oklahoma can restore power to an area in days, their expertise is exactly that good in crisis, they are brought in after hurricanes and other elsewhere disasters

After the Moore tornado, power was restored in a few days for most of it, a couple weeks in the flattened area

EMP is far greater in scope and degree of destruction than hurricanes, tornados, etc.

one of my best friends' dad was the chairman and ceo of OG&E for 20 years, specifically during that time frame. the guy was a bad arse. OG&E is an impressive utility and i can't ever remeber any extended outages growing up in oklahoma, despite tornadoes and such.

Nah. Old diesel with mechanical fuel injection. EMP can't get you if you don't have an engine computer, electronic fuel injection, or an ignition system.

Plus, they'll run on damn near any fuel.

Doesn't need to be hunting land. If it's got birds, squirrels, shite...animals of any kind, it's "hunting land". There are animals all over the place in this country and Canada.

My Dad told me that when he was a kid growing up just after the Depression, if you said you had seen a deer in the woods people would tell you that you imagined it. The deer in this area were hunted so hard you couldn't find them anymore.

When I was a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's, we hunted in this area of South Louisiana as much as anyone. In all that time, I could count the deer I saw on one hand. It has taken a lot of management to get the deer population where it is today.

If you suddenly had millions of greenhorns running around hunting for food, you would rapidly run out of all types of game. There's no way it could be sustained.

A huge EMP or something similar sends us back to the Stone Age. No structural damage occurs, but electricity, internet, utilities, and refineries are knocked out indefinitely. What is your first move or objective?

Millennial: I will continue waiting for phone service and Internet. Then Call providers and demand my service turned back on. Mom better also have lanterns for the basement, i will not be sitting in the dark.

exactly, there are enough deer, elk and antelope in the US to feed the population for about two weeks.

If it's long-term catastrophic EMP aftermath, would have to consider abducting some of the local women under 200 lbs & exchange them for supplies. If the stores are out of food & water, its on to Lowe's to load up on duct tape.

The return on investment for over 200 lb women (feeding them) would not be worth the eventual ransom of ammo, water, food, generators, etc

I know it might sound crazy but I have about 200 lbs of uncooked white rice and even more than that in sugar. I just started storing salt and honey as well. All of those have a very very very long shelf life of stored properly. Not worried about food for 4-6 months. I have persuaded several of my neighbors to do the same so that all we need to worry about is defending our area from the zombies. I have hundreds of matchbooks from years of grabbing a few at any restaurant that has them. Fire starting ability will be essential and needs to be as easy as possible. I try to keep a several month supply of children's ibuprofen on hand in order to have fever reducing and pain relieving stuff for my kids under 11. Several bottles of adult ibuprofen as well. Toothpaste, soap, first aid stuff, etc..

Already having that stuff, My first move is to mobilize with my neighbors to defend ourselves. Between most of us, we have an arsenal but it does no good if not organized into watches and shifts. There are a few out of the 20 homes in my neighborhood who don't seem to interested in being prepared. I am not sure where they will fall into the plan should the emp situation ever occur. Do we let them strain our resources? I guess if they join in and participate in the overall defense we can keep them minimally fed. But if they start trying to steal and get all crazy I guess we will have to off them.

Get the family together. Grab the guns, ammo and pre-packed backpacks. Hit the creek behind the house and head north until we're away from the town and closer to where I grew up. Once there, I'll regroup and assess. I've got a 55 gal drum buried there with supplies. We have enough food for a month or more (that we're packing) not including any fish we catch or animals we kill. I don't want to waste ammo on food if I don't have too, so we'll try and fish as much as we can and use snares for small vermin. Once we find a good spot in the middle of nowhere, I'll work on a semi-permanent shelter and figure things out from there.
