Barkley has been the best RB in CFB the last 2 years imo

Barkley has more reps...trying to downplay the homerism here, but Guice's 2016 was better than either of Barkley's seasons IMO.

Guice had 109 yards and 3 less TDs than Barkley last season, despite being a backup for probably half the season and getting 91 less carries in I think 2 less games.

I can't speak much on Barkley out of the passing game, not too sure, but he did post better numbers than Guice in that regard.

Barkley had 4 game over 150 to Guice's 5. Guice got double digit carries 8 times last season, he got 138+ yards in 6 of those games....compared to Barkley's double digits 13 times and going over that amount 4 times.

Because you've all been telling the world that Fournette was the greatest RB of his generation since he was a senior in high school. But he never won shite
That's how you compare college players?

Healthy LF all day IMO.

I hope I'm wrong as that'll mean Guice will go 7+ YPC and over 2k yards though. I'll take it, i just don't see Guice topping LF's sophomore season.

The only reason I brought Chubb up was due to the epic pre-injury Chubb vs. fournette debates where LSU fans wanted to make it very clear that ypc does not matter

I think Guice is incredibly talented, and had some of the most eye popping numbers last year, but personally I'd like to see him do it against a top 50 defense before crowning him the best RB in CFB.

He just didn't get enough carries last year against those types of teams.

Louisville was ranked exactly 10th in total defense per game as well as 10th in rush yards defense per game last season, fwiw.

Guice had 138 yards rushing.

UF and USM were also top 50 rush defenses as well(36th and 43rd), and even top 20 total defenses(6th and 18th). He had 83 yards and 1 TD on 4.4 YPC vs UF and and 162 yards on 10 YPC and 2 TDs vs USM.

As a Clemson fan, I was more scared of Bo than I was of Henry.

That's saying something, he's incredible.

I'd have em (and this is strictly for college):

1. Bo
2. Guice
3. Barkley

The craziest thing is I might completely flip them as far as it comes to NFL prospects.

Guice needs to not fumble so damn much before he is considered great let alone best

Right. I just feel like his stats were a little inflated against bad rushing defenses (like many players' stats are).

5.3 ypc against Louisville and 4.4 ypc against UF are solid numbers. USM being a top 50 rush defense doesn't tell how bad that defense could be. The game before LSU, they gave up 340 rushing yards and 6 TDs on a little under 10 yards a carry to UTSA. Sorry that doesn't impress me as much.

Again, I think he's incredibly talented and had some of the most explosive plays in college football last year. I just want to see him do it consistently against the best teams first.

I know it's been pointed out as well, but it is interesting watching arguments change based on your individual player. People loved to take away Chubb's best run against Bama when talking about his stats against them. If you do the same thing for Guice's biggest run against UL he only had 2.7 yards per carry. That run still counts, and I think we should include it obviously, just pointing out the irony.

Agreed. It should be applied across the board, these types of things.

I do think YPC is obviously important, but context matters. 6 YPC with LSU's shite passing is arguably more impressive than 5 YPC at, say, Penn St.

Do Michigan St. and Indiana (51st and 54th rushing defenses) count as "best teams?"

I mean, Barkley went for:
33 rushes for 58 yards and 2 TDs against Indiana
12 rushes for 14 yards and 1 TD against Mich St.

TBH, Barkley's best games were against Southern Cal and then Iowa. Why? Because those were the two teams in the top 50 in rushing defense where he broke 100 rushing yards.

DG5 would've been the #1 drafted RB this year if he was eligible for the draft.
