Obviously Star Wars will win with its lasting, original, and iconic sound effects, but I must say the sound in Heat is incredible.

The bank robbery shootout alone is not only the best I've ever seen, but it's the best I've ever heard also.

They actually used the original sound recorded on site because the man-made effects couldn't hold a candle to the cavernous echo of real downtown machine guns.

The first hijacking scene's sound is incredible too.

I don't think there has been a war film or video game since 1998 that hasn't borrowed one or two sound effects from Saving Private Ryan.

The dinosaur roars in Jurassic Park. Pretty cool how they combined various animal sounds to do it.

Michael Mann is the shite when it comes to that type of stuff. The firefight scene in Miami Vice was legit.

The gun sound in Open Range are amazing.

The first Thor movie has incredibly well balanced sound levels. I wish every movie was that balanced between dialogue and action scenes.

The sound in Titan A.E. is top notch.

Of movies I've seen recently the nice guys stands out because they use the sound design to make the punches and action more visceral

It's really good shite

I remember watching Saving Private Ryan in theaters and being able to distinguish the sounds of the bullets hitting the blades of grass.

Its reboot virtues aside, 2014 Godzilla had great sound design on 'Ziller and the Mutos.

Kubrick was great at it too - For me The Shining was the best.
