The Yankees beat a 102-win team in the LDS, a 116-win team in the LCS, and then lost to like a 90-win team in the World Series

Only one team had Schilling and Unit
They threw like 40 combined innings or something in that series

1991 World Series Twins vs. Braves
First time I ever recall crying. frick Jack Morris and especially frick Lonnie Smith.
But for real: 2 aces throwing 9 inning shutouts with Morris throwing a complete game 10 inning shutout in game 7?
The best.

2016 was incredible for the average fan as well as the two fan bases. One for the ages!!!
Slightly off-topic but starting with the NCAA tourney final last year we had an incredible year of championship game/series
Villanova beats UNC on a buzzer beater
Cavs comes back from 3-1 down to beat Warriors
Cubs comes back from 3-1 down to beat Indians
Clemson beats Bama on TD pass with one second left
Pats come back from 28-3 to beat Falcons

1991 is the best series, punctuated by the best call ever by the immortal Jack Buck. But I'd give the nod to 2001 because of 9/11 and all the surrounding stuff. Plus, the only time Mo Rivera was mortal.

2016 all around was one for the ages
Edit: don't forget Trump winning. A lot of wild wins happened in 2016.

Rajai Davis's homer was one of the great moments in MLB history

1955: Next Year finally happens for Brooklyn.
1962: 7 game series, redemption for Ralph Terry, last game comes down to the wire.

Yaeh, I'll take the series that took place ten years earlier.

'91 would be my choice. Great series all around.
Night of game 7, terrible storm in Baton Rouge, had just watched LSU blow the lead against #1 Fla St. Got back to my apartment, no power due to the storm, had to listen on the final innings on the radio.
Two other great series that the BoSox would lose in 7. But everyone remembers what happened in Game 6.

Only when he had to throw the ball to 2nd base.

Losing after 9/11 completely broke my heart.
This. It didn't seem fair. I was at the stadium for one of the games. I was watching game 7 at a bar in midtown. When the Yankees lost, you could hear a pin drop in the bar.

I remember thinking that his career was over after that. What a dumb arse I was.
