Turbo tax cost me $100, has to be a cheaper way especially since I have a basic return with no itemizing.

Why are you paying for the $100 version when you aren't itemizing?

The IRS offers some free tax filing services:

A "basic return" is free with TurboTax. Do you have capital gains?

You must have selected some of their "premium" options along the way. Their basic filing is free.

Doesn't state of Louisiana let you file for free on their website?

have you tried breaking out a pen and a calculator and just filling the forms out yourself? Did you know that you are allowed to file your tax return via snail mail?

I ran into the same problem this year. We used the new credit karma tax filing. Was completely free and never even asks you to purchase anything
