you do know what they were ranked so high was because of returning pitching and position players. Freeman, Duplantis, deichman, Jordans3, Pap, and the great class he signed with Smith, Slaughter, etc. A team that made a super.
He is not an elite coach for an elite program. Van Horn, tim Corbin, Migione, ,OSullivan are all better coaches because their facilities and tradition are not on par with ours. Andy will join that list soon because State will soon.

That's just the SEC.

Go look around the country and see some of the excellent coaches like McDonnell, O'Connor, Schloss, Casey, etc.

Go look at his coaching record in Super and CWS.
It isn't good outside of 2009 where he had the reigning MLB batting champion, mahtook, Scimpf, Jones, Former MLB pitchers like Coleman. These were or are all at the majors. No he didn't recruit them all either. Most came to LSU because their dad played here or because of who we are.

The 7-7 CWS record or rather 2-6 record outside of 2009 is why there is a Mikes comparison plus him using Texas to get an extension.

Paul is a great recruiter that actually gets kids to want to come to school, something that Smoke was terrible at. Its useless to get paper commitments from kids that are getting drafted and have absolutely no shot at hitting campus.

Paul is a bad in game coach that is far too reliant on trends rather than getting a feel for how his team is performing. Many of his moves make perfect baseball sense, but terrible contextual sense at the moment. Paul is also a bad in game motivator. A good part of baseball is getting your players to perform and knowing when to push the right buttons. How many times have you seen a PM LSU baseball team play loose? How many times in big games especially?

I don't care for how he throws players under the bus in the media. It makes me nervous about how he would handle less than optimal success. LSU has one bad year, and Paul starts "its all the players fault" during press conferences, how long before word gets out to recruits?

All of our offense? We basically lost only Fraley... And the only big time contributor on the mound was Valek.
