should the NCAA reconsider hosting the final four in football stadiums

it seems more often then not the final 4 and national title game is marred with awful shooting. the depth perception issue is constantly brought up.... what other excuse is there for the awful shooting we saw in these 3 games?

They should play it in MSG every year.

I want to say I read somewhere that since they've started hosting in those massive stadiums that shooting percentage has gone down across the board.
They need to at least keep it in NBA arenas but they're not going to give up that revenue.

Yes. They usually don't even come close to filling up the lower half of whatever stadium its in anyway.

Yes, the atmosphere is terrible and hardly anyone ever shoots well because of the depth perception.

They don't even put a curtain down the middle like they used to do in the Georgia Dome.

I said this in the other thread, but I don't know if this is the case, and I'd want some data to prove it.
Again, Louisville/Michigan, Duke/Wisconsin, and North Carolina/Villanova were all played at a very high level and had a ton of made shots. Maybe it's specific NFL stadiums? Maybe it's horrific shooting teams making the finals? I am not sure.

I wish they would at least go back to pre-2009 where the court wasn't centered on the football field.

I recall the uconn/kentucky title game being bad. also, IIRC, the entire final 4 and title game when uconn beat butler was a disaster.

Yes, having the assistant coaches down below the head coach is weird and different than what HCs are used too. You could really see the discomfort with frank Martin who depends on a coach right beside him as he paces the sidelines. The whole atmosphere suxdix to boot.

No looks epic. I was in the last row in 2012 and saw fine.

I have actually shot a basketball from the court in both an arena and dome setting. I must say there is no doubt a huge difference (obviously). Like the poster above said, the depth perception is a big factor.

Move the games to basketball stadiums and then start selling beer

Or the Garden. Or the Staples Center

The Palestra in philadelphia. Teams, bands, cheerleaders and 1,000 random lucky actual students each. No charge. The rest of the seats auctioned in pairs and 4s.
Start bidding at 10k for 4 on the court level next to the scorers table. Sell 100 tickets a week on ebay stating in january, with 500 held back until the final 4 are known.

Did you see the crowd there in PHX?? My husband was there Saturday and Monday....he said it was packed full.
I would say they filled it up. They had over 77k fans there Saturday. They sold more tickets for the final four game Saturday than when the super bowl was there.

I dk about shooting %'s, but Saturday was the first time since 92 that all four teams in the Final Four scored above 70

Of course they should because the quality of play takes a hit in these huge domes, but as stated above, the NCAA doesn't care about that and they're just going to keep raking in the money from having it at these football stadiums.

Hold it in NBA arenas and jack up the ticket prices.
