Alright guys,

I've got my entire trip mapped out with free days, tours, and everything else in between. What I don't have reserved are restaurants. Not really sure that I need to make reservations anyway. Any who, share with me some of your favorite places to eat in the above mentioned cities.

I've got Trattoria Sostanza & All' Antico Vinaio listed in Florence. I've got a bunch of shite saved on my Tripadvisor app, but I'm curious what you all have to say. Thanks in advance.

You started an older thread on this right? Because I found my reply there for Positano:

quote:

I highly, HIGHLY recomment La Tagliata. Live music, the view, the meal, the wine... THE BEST!

It's up the mountainside a little ways. Our hotel had a shuttle take us there. The price is great for all you are getting as well. Look it up.

I can only give some recommendations on Rome:
Enoteca Regionale Palatium - Place was aweseome.
Cul De Sac - Cool place with some authentic Roman style dinners
Pizza Zizza - It is just out side of Vatican City. The guys working were great. Tell them it's your first time and get the sampler.

If you are around the Colosseum for lunch, go off of Via di Giovanni at a shop with a red awning with Panificio written on it (64 Via di S. Giovanni in Laterano
Rome, Lazio is about the address). The sandwiches there are amazing. Ate there twice it was so good.

We really enjoyed Antico Arco in Trastevere (neighborhood in Southern Rome). That whole neighborhood is awesome.

Just got back from Europe (Paris, Florence, Barcelona) and some of the best meals we had were in Florence. Trattoria Sostanza is a great spot. I called the first morning we got there and was able to get/share a table for 9:30 that night. The butter chicken is a must order for sure.

Vini e Vecchi Sapori is also fantastic. Small place so you'll need a reservation.

The food market (Mercato Centrale) is also worth checking out if it's not already on your list. Worth spending some time either walking around downstairs or eating lunch upstairs.

Ristorante Academia in Florence was really good. Owner was an awesome guy who was familiar with New Orleans and had visited a number of times. Florentine steak was very good, very large, and cooked perfectly. Very Reasonable prices.

ARLU ristorante a San Pietro in rome... Walking distance from St. Peters square, everything was great.

For Rome definitely check out Girarrosto Fiorentino. Nicer place if you're looking for that scene with extremely good authentic food. Best food ever. The filet with black truffle is ridiculous and the veal with sage is stupid good.

My favorite place to grab a sandwich in the world is Antico Noe in Florence. From the SE corner of the duomo walk down Via Oriuolo about 2 blocks and it is in a covered walkway just south. I have not been in a few years but it was a stopping point for me whenever I was in Florence.

Florence: Trattoria Gargani and Acquacotta, for lunch any of the small panini shops between Palazza Vecchio and Santa Croce are good and cheap.

Rome: La Regola anything in near the Jewish Ghetto

Those were the standouts for us.

I recommend checking out Elizabeth Minchilli's blog, lots of great restaurant recommendations.

For all that made the Rome recs, are they OK for a 13 yo girl? We are going in June.

I will definitely take her to Giolitti..she likes American gelato so that will blow her away.
