So you're of the opinion that Thomas is on the same tier as arguably 3 top 5 players? Show your work please.

Magic Johnson 19.5ppg, 7.2rbs, 11.2asst
Isiah Thomas 19.2ppg 3.6rbs, 9.3asst

Other than rebounding they are very similar. Magic also had the luxury of playing with James Worthy and Kareem, while Isiah had Dumars and Lambeer. Magic is also 6'9" and played all five positions at times, contributing to his rebound total.

Here is a complete NBA finals game 7 from 1984 between the Celtics and Lakers. So the energy should be ramped up at an all time high.

Look at how slow it is. And look at the standing around on defense. LOL when people say this was a better product/tougher product.

Seriously, watch it and tell me the quickness and defense is there.
Can either of those teams beat any of the 2017 playoff teams?

ETA: Disclaimer, I truly believe you judge players/teams by eras, so my question isn't THAT relevant, but it does show how far we've come in the last 32 years.

Better let Chris Paul in that room as well because he's better than Isiah Thomas.

This is just a heartstring pull.

No, it's an accurate description of how he played, which explains why his body broke down so dramatically. Bird would have been far better served by letting more balls go out of bounds and not going to the ground so often. But he wasn't wired that way. Bird was an absolutely reckless player, with no regard for his body. and he paid the price for it. His aging curve fell off a cliff. He really had no late career because his body gave out due to the accumulation of injuries.

Iverson is another player who played with a reckless disregard for his own safety. He also was basically done after his Age 32 season. And that style adds up, and shortens your career.

I'm not using his relentless style as a testament to greatness or to pull at heartstrings, but to explain why his career was so short and his impressive collection of injuries. Bird was not the kind of guy who could "pick his spots". A race car that never lets up on the gas will crash into a wall.

Apparently I'm an idiot for having a 3x finals MVP in my top 3. Other 3x finals MVPs:

Michael Jordan
LeBron James
Tim Duncan

No. Bird was cursed with a bad back. It wasnt because he played so much harder than everyone else. It sucks it happened.

you need to step back and examine a few things about your observation skills. He's pretty obviously in on the joke and just having a good time.

easily top 5... at least semi-modern.

in no order, besides the first one:

MJ
LBJ
Magic
Larry

Of course there are a bunch more I could list here, but I put him right there with the GOATs. Magic or Larry?

If he is not top 5 he is EASILY in the top ten all time list.

When Bird was healthy he was as good as anybody I have ever seen. People get into this now vs then shite but Bird would have worked at anytime. All of 6'10, powerful, best passing forward ever, great rebounder, clutch, nasty attitude, IQ off the charts and easily one of the best shooters ever. And at that size he could almost always get a clean look. If he is not in your Top 5 then you watch a different game than me.
