Sig P320 subcompact FTE question

I bought a Sig P320 subcompact a couple months ago. First time I took her out, straight out of the box it failed to eject about every 3rd round using Blazer ammo. WTF? I thought, but I took it home, cleaned it and used the Lucas lube sample that came with it. Took it out and it absolutely ate up Remington ammo, FTEd about every 5 to 7 rounds with Winchester ammo and about every 4 with Blazer. Gun shop guy said I need to make sure I have a firm grip, so this last weekend after a good clean and lube, and making sure I had a good firm grip, it ate up Remington and Winchester, but FTEd on the Blazer. Do I, A.) got a dud SIG? B.) Just need to break it in more, or C.) be happy where I'm at and never even consider buying Blazer brand ammo again?

Id be pretty unhappy. I don't think quality guns should be that picky.

Blazer is dog shite... but I'd be pissed if a Sig had those kinds of problems.

I've never run Blazer through mine but I have run plenty of my lighter reloads through it without any issues.

If it's not FTE with Remington, then it's probably not a bad gun.
However, in my experience with Sigs - I had a single example experience light primer strikes 100% of which were related to aftermarket grips impinging the mainspring. I have more experience with all metal Sig Classic pistols than all other platforms combined (excepting the M-16/AR-15) and I would be concerned enough with your issue to contact customer service.
A polymer pistol should have a shorter break-in period - 300 or so. I don't trust a pistol with my life until I have 500 through it with no problems.
Let's assume the Blazer is all from the same batch - could be a bad batch. Then again, it could be this particular weapon doesn't like this particular flavor of ammo. That actually is normal. There are great defense choices in Winchester ammo and it is generally inexpensive, reliable, all brass USA ammo.
So silver lining in there if you keep the gun.

What kind of after market grip did you have problems with? My G10's work fine on P229. A pistol w/ the rep of sig should eat ammo like blazer just fine. I would try another box and any more FTE, send it back to Sig. The military did extensive tests w/ the pistol and being picky about ammo is unacceptable for this type of gun. Its not like you are using reloads or that Russian crap. If it is in fact picky, why not just use a Glock instead? That thing will eat any ammo.

Hogue grips on a W. German 220 about 25 years ago.

I just don't know all these new polymer guns - especially a subcompact - I don't know what kind of compromises had to be made to get a full size caliber into that length slide with that length spring.

I bet they didn't do any/very much shooting of the subcompact. Maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks all for your input. I believe at this point I am going to see what happens with Remington and Winchester and some good, stout reloads and take it from there. And, I'll never even utter that "B" word again.

Oh, should have mentioned it is chambered in 9mm, if that makes any difference.

I would maybe run a few hundred rounds of Remington if it runs it fine to give it a good workout...then clean and retry. If still FTE on blazer id send it back to sig for some work. If it was ONLY blazer that had the issue id give thought to not sending to sig...but id probably send anyway. Its a free thing so why not have it running 100%.

My only gun failure in the last 5 years(when I switched to plastic almost completely) was with my P320 last week, I had a extraction failure as well. Of course, I haven't cleaned it since it was purchased two years ago, has about 1000rds through it, and I was shooting my 147 reloads. I'm not ready to write it off just yet, but I'll keep monitoring. On the other hand if your's is just having issues with crappy blazer, then just switch to WWB.

This. Blazer is not that bad. I would expect a Sig, and especially one touted as being a workhorse, to run it just fine.

my glocks eat nothing but blazer at the range
it may very well be shite ammo but a modern firearm should fire it without issues
that would be enough for me to find another pistol

I wrote this in another thread, but I bought the p320 full this past Saturday. Straight out of the box on Sunday I shot 250 rounds of mix blazer and some real cheap American rounds I believe. I had no issues. My guess you might have some issues with the gun not ammo.

I shoot a lot of Blazer thru my Shield. I have five of the eight round mags and one of the seven round ones. When I go to the range I normally shoot off around 100-140 rounds. I'll reload all six mags after emptying them and start again. At least one mag during the firing of all six will have a misfire, but that's it.
Could a bad mag cause misfires?
I used to buy a lot of that really inexpensive Perfecta 9 mm ammo at Walmart. I don't remember having misfires with it. They don't ever have it any more.

Absolutely mags can be and many times are the cause of a lot of problems with modern guns. I number all of my mags with a white paint pen and track if I have malfunctions. If one mag seems to be the culprit SHE GON

You'll need to describe the malfunction a little better here. Do you mean a failure to fire (light strike)? Do you mean a failure to feed? Or a failure to eject?
If you think your firing pin may not be hitting the primers hard enough, do the pen test. Take a regular ball-point pen, stick the ball point into the barrel where the point rests on the breech face and then pull the trigger. If the pen barely moves, your firing pin is not hitting primers hard enough. If it flies across the room, the firing pin is hitting primers hard enough. It's not a scientific test but gives you a good baseline.
