i remember walking through the NLU student union building to get some hardees during 'computer camp' in the summer of 1982 and the place was rather dark & depressing.
i walked past the big screen TV (the one with the 3 colored lights in the base that projected the image onto a screen) with my burger and sat down with a bunch of other people whop were watching crazy videos like "you ain't worth the salt in my tears" and "billie jean" and "whirly girl" and being enthralled at this new tv channel that showed nothing but videos all day long *WITH NO COMMERCIALS*.

I remember I had a crush on this girl in second grade, so I decided to show her my pee pee.
She kind of laughed at it and what not. Nothing embarrassing.
The next day, I get arrested and sent to jail.
That's why I'm not allowed to teach anymore.

Traveled all the way to Pittsburgh with my parents. While there we caught a Pirates game. Ended up catching a foul ball from Warren Morris. Felt awesome to catch a foul from an ex lsu player all the way in pit.

One of my favorite things growing up was going to my grandparents every sunday after church for sunday dinner with the whole family (probably 25-30 of us) And everyone getting together for thanksgiving and christmas and having huge meals and a great time. Soon as grandpa died and grandma had to go to nursing home.... boom, no one in family talks to each other anymore

Going to the video store to rent a movie. Walking through the aisles of genres, pleading to parents to buy some candy/popcorn by the register.
Edit: Probably not the absolute "best" memory. Just being nostalgic.

My favorite memory is probably my dad used to wake me up at 5am a few times a week when I was 8 or 9 years old and we would ride around and look for deer and other animals. This was in the early 80's when there weren't many deer.
I'm 45 and a while back he said he remembers times when he would think I was asleep and all of a sudden a deer would cross the road and it would surprise him when I'd say "daddy, there's some eyes!"

My mom and I were huge LSU baseball fans. We didn't miss a home game, I remember her checking me out of school early during regional's. Lot of great memories at the old Alex Box!

Going to our camp on the red river. 14 mile boat ride or 12 mile 3 wheeler ride. My dad and his buddies would work and the kids would play in the river and fish. Some of my first memories.
Also working my grandpa's hay farm. He taught me to bail and stack. At the end of the day, he'd hand me a $20 bill. Cheapest helper he could find

Riding to Orlando Florida in the back seat of my Grandmother's 1974 Buick Regal. I could not have been more than 5 or so. This was about 1975. I remember passing through Georgia on the interstate and I thought it was odd that apparently nobody lived in this strange place named Georgia. All I could see on the interestare was mile after mile of nothing but pine trees.
My grandmother was retired, it was just her, me and my brother, who was seven. And we were going down to spend a month or however long with her brother and his family. One of the good parts of living with her was during the summer we could go on vacation as long as we liked.
We got to go to Disney World while there. And every day my Aunt Alma would give me and my brother a couple dollars to go buy her a pack of Winstons and each of us a candy bar at the local 7-11. We'd walk there and back. Only trouble we ever had doing this was once I almost stepped on a coral snake in the road. At night she'd make us homemade milkshakes while my uncle wowed us with stories from his time in the Seabee's during WWII.
Their adult son would come to visit some as well. He had a beautiful Harley chopper and was a member of the HA's. He'd always bring me and my brother some sort of treat. He's the first one to influence me to want to be a biker I guess.
And I also remember going over to their neighbors to see a shark they'd caught. It was a hammer head and to 5 year old me it looked about 40' long. It was probably closer to about 6' -10' though.
Looking back, that was an awesome summer.

One time my ultra-elite boarding school was taken over by narcoterrorists who were hell bent on holding the son of a federal judge hostage, because the Jefe was in federal custody. Unfortunately, the feds had squirreled the kid away days before, so when the narcoterrorists showed up there was nothing but a group of rag-tag, rich, elist kids, many of whom had prior disciplinary issues at other institutions. For instance, we would often times drink bootleg hooch disguised as mouthwash and call phone sex hotlines for free. shite like that. So anyway, narcoterrorists show up and were seriously fricking shite up. Ruined the spring dance and shot some people. You would think it was a recipe for disaster, because of our disciplinary stuff, but in then end, it turned out ok because some guys who nobody really liked coordinated with the military to take the terrorists out, but most of all, because this prick son of a mafia dude got blown away in the courtyard and I was permitted to start seeing his ex-girlfriend without there being any weirdness.

When I was a kid my dad was a teacher so he had summers off. We didn't have a lot of money but he saved up enough to buy an aluminum boat with a 20 horse mercury outboard. We carpeted the floor and sides, installed bass seats on pedestals, and mounted a trolling motor on the front.
He'd wake my brother and me up at 4:00 am in the middle of the week in the summer and say "want to go fishing?".
We'd head out to places like Bayou Pigeon, Bayou Sorrell, Grand River, Lake Verrett, and Spanish Lake. Most days we'd be the only people out there.
Catching fish or just drowning crickets, it didn't matter, my dad was spending time with his boys. It was great.
I think every family should do stuff like that. Time spent out there on the water, nothing to do but fish and talk. That quality time together beats the shite out of these helicopter parents signing their kids up for football, baseball, gymnastics, etc. That's just playing taxi to cart your kids off to their next activity. Then you're on the sidelines while someone else is spending time teaching your kids.
Don't get me wrong, sports are great for kids. But there's other things that matter more. Like spending time together doing something.

Growing up in Hawaii, our family would get "island fever"..so every other year, we'd all board a plane and head to Tennessee for vacation. Culture shock but good, fun times with my hillbilly relatives
