Where does "Revenge of the Nerds" rank in your list of Best Comedies?

I don't feel like it gets nearly the respect it deserves. Do you think it has to do with the scene when Lewis pretends to be Stan and encounters Betty?

I don't even think it would be in my top 20.

I loved it growing up.
Also was a fan of 2: nerds in paradise. Which was a weird thing with the random love interest for Lewis.
Now...
What makes me love the films, is Booger. Dudley Dawson is a legend. All the actors owned their characters. It was perfectly cast.
And the things they add, like the laugh Lewis has..just gold. Goodman was great and ogre was awesome. Only reason I believed the guy could hold his own in a legit kumite later on.
Should have stopped at 2. I do wish betty had been in the sequel though. Just felt like he was cheating on a girl he was lucky to get in the first place.

I agree. Its very un-PC and doesn't play well in today's culture so most younger people don't even know about it. Its a great movie though.

As a teenager in the 80s, I have Porkys and Nerds as the best teen comedies by far.
Nerds had excellent character development. With Booger stealing the spotlight IMO.
"I've been out combing the high schools for dates al day"
"What the F is a frush?"
"I thought I was looking at my moms douchebsg, but that was back in Ohio"

Just realizing 3 of my favorite comedies involve rape.

Perhaps I need counseling.

As a teenager it was one of my favorites. It hasn't aged well for me though.

Getting a remake.

It was probably my #1 as a kid, but I haven't seen it in years, and wouldn't be surprised if it's aged horribly

I guess I will watch it tonight to see how it has aged. I watched Airplane a few years ago and didn't think it was as funny as I remember (and I loved it when I was a kid).

Circus Child should ban you for this statement.

I am not seeing it listed on Apple iTunes (now called TV). Has it been blackballed?

I showed my kids Airplane a few years ago and they loved it. My wife had never seen it either and loved it.
We watched the TV version of RotN a while back. So it hasn't been blackballed.
Still hilarious. Full of 80's awesomeness. The montage, the music. I agree about Booger stealing all his scenes.
I don't think the rape scene makes it too taboo for today.

I wouldn't put it up there with Mel Brooks in his prime but that is not an insult by any stretch of the imagination. RotN was a funny comedy that was about as well cast a movie as I've seen. I don't think you could make that movie today but it was a great example of 80's comedies.
