This was surprisingly so good, I had to buy the digital version and watch it with my kids whenever they ask which is nightly.

If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

Haven't seen it, but you're the first I've heard say it was actually good. The Lion King is still my favorite.

watched it last night...no. It's a good story and looks great but it wasn't in the upper tier to me.

I haven't watched it yet, but I would be surprised if it's better than Zootopia and that's within the last year.

I thought Zootopia was terrible. Had trouble staying awake it was so boring. Glad you liked it though.

I haven't even seen it, but no. And have a downvote for suggesting.

Eta

But for real, gave up on the pixar style. Heard it was a good story.

I liked it, but it wasn't close to being my favorite. Doubt it'd make my Top 10.

I liked it a lot, but no.

There was no real villain. The main character really didn't grow. She grew the village and her people, but she seemed to be the same person from the beginning, just with more experience.

Maui grew a lot as a character, but he was just a side character, really.

Had Tamatoa been given a bigger part and Moana given more conflict, it would be one of the goats, but as it stands now, it is just a good disney movie.

ETA: I would say Aladdin and Lion King pretty much epitomize what I love in great disney movies.
-Strong Villain
-Main character who undergoes a drastic change
-good side characters
-fun music
-satisfying ending

Moana had the last 3, but missed the mark on the first 2.

This movie had really good, memorable songs. Unfortunately that's about it.

Just curious,

Moana was good...have you seen all of these?

How To Train Your Dragon
The Incredibles
Finding Nemo
Lion King
Monsters Inc.
Up
Brave
Wall-E
Frozen
Ratatouille
Toy Story 1,2,3

I would rate these above Moana... but I do agree it was a very entertaining Disney movie.

Not Disney.

As for your other choices, they are all Pixar save for Frozen and the Lion King. So your point is awful.

Best? No, but not the worst. Saw it with 3 young grandkids. They enjoyed it. I was entertained as much by their enjoyment.

But I'm an old school Disney purist and prefer the more classic animation films like Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
