I'm not. You act like he made the same decision 30 separate times though and judges use discretion when sentencing.

Again, you would last how many days in prison? and you think 5 years is a slap on the wrist

The discretion they'll consider is how many innocent people this guy injured due to his poor choices. He made more than one bad choice in case you didn't notice.

This is completely irrelevant. It's cute you think it's some sort of gotcha.

For the amount of damage he did, it is.

most people here have at one time driven at .08 but not at .232, since most of us have friends that would stop us

the law treats them as the same thing too.

a 20 year old a day before his 21st birthday blowing a .04 is the same thing as you or I getting stopped and blowing a .232 how does that make fricking sense?

You can thank MADD for all that.

Like most organizations of it's like MADD started out with noble purpose and intent. Then it became the fricking Gestapo.

I didn't get hammered, get behind the wheel and injury a busload of people.

Based on posts from a LOT of the OT, most people here have done two of these three things and think it's cool that they did.

and the extent to which he injured them.

which is why he's about to spend yearS at Angola.

I think you should have some perspective on the severity of a punishment seeing as how you're quite passionate about what should happen to him.

He didn't kill anyone so he has that going for him though I don't think it should be dismissed that he easily could have killed a lot of people. I also think it's relevant the extent to which he injured people. I've googled it and I'm not seeing details on it. If he paralyzed someone for instance I wouldn't be opposed to him spending the rest of his life in prison, but like I said I'm not seeing any details on it

I guess I wish people in NOLA were as emotional about the systemic problems in the city such as violent crime that kills people and destroys families as they are about this

Briana Allen, no one gave a frick about her. You'd think that would've been a call to action for the city but who cares, right. She's not white and neither is the guy who killed her...so who cares? That's my problem with NOLA

this is retarded as well and making blanket statements like this. Trust me I have plenty of black friends that do a hell of a lot to try and do well for their particular community. Impressive honestly. The amount of genuine caring on something so disrupted is impressive.

if you get completely shitfaced drunk (.232) and injure someone driving, you should be seeing years in jail. The punishment needs to be severe.

It is severe. If you blew. 08, and injured someone what's the difference? It's still an accident and you are still facing jail time unless you know someone.

To erase drunk driving, public transportation would need to be world's better, Uber/taxi cheaper than it already is, and driverless cars replace every automobile. Things could be done to drop the rate even more, but reality is drunk driving generates alot of revenue. It's not about safety. It's about how can they make alot of money while looking like they give a shite about safety.

Does MADD go out and offer free rides to everyone at bars? Do they try to push through bills that would provide funding for better public transportation? Or do they just champion harsher punishments, which means more money for cities, parishes, and states?

It's all about the Benjamins
