Did Madison Prep really need to score 134 points last night?

Madison Prep beat Rosepine 134-32 in a Louisiana high school playoff basketball game last night.
I am almost always on the side of "hey, if you don't want a team to score 134 on you, then do something about it" but I see this differently. Rosepine was 7-22 and only made the playoffs because of a severely flawed playoff system (the word "clusterfrick" comes to mind). I think Madison Prep could have shown a little restraint at some point and maybe worked on their half-court game or something...what are you proving by putting 134 on the board against a team that was put in a spot they shouldn't have been in in the first place?

Well, maybe the system will be fixed now?

Maybe they are trying to prove the point that the playoff system is severely flawed, like you said. And that the team they played shouldn't have been in the playoffs at all

Tommy Amaker's W.T. Woodson as a senior beat my team Marshall HS both in Falls Church Va. 110 to 30.
When you get beat like that it's bad but it's more of a ho hum type deal. Getting beat on a last second shot after a hard fought game is much worse.

But seriously, the playoff system seems insane. A team that won less than a quarter of their games made the playoffs? That's asking for incredibly lopsided results.
Hopefully this wakes up the people responsible for this mess and they do something to fix this problem. At least the players were high school kids who can actually learn from this instead of being completely devastated.

Yea, but the Rosepine principal will now get to say "our boys basketball team made the playoffs last year for the first time in 5 years, congrats boys! Now, for the letterman jacket patch awards ."

They were obviously practicing their shooting throughout the game.

I don't have a problem with it.

Fine with me. Play the whole game on both sides. It is far more insulting to hold back and take it easy. I've been on both sides of those scores. Just play hard the whole time and go home and put it behind you.
Taking it easy was the worst insult imaginable.

I have no problem with the score. I do have a problem with Madison Prep and Southern Lab hanging out in 1A and 2A collecting trophies. They should play up in 5A/Division 1. Unlike Evangel and John Curtis, those two schools are afraid to lose.

I graduated from Rosepine. Haven't heard from anyone on how that game went last night, but I knew a couple of weeks ago from talking to one of my friends that teaches there that the basketball team wasn't good at all. They seriously need to do something with the system.

Public school principals did this.

Normally I would agree with you. There is no point in running it up on inferior competition, but in this instance I won't be so quick to judge.
Rosepine is really bad and Madison Prep is really, really good. I'm sure they could have scored 200 if the coach really wanted to. I have watched some of these Cenla teams put out 6th and 7th graders as starters. I don't know what the make up of Rosepine's team is, but a 7-22 team shouldn't be in the playoffs in 2A.
I would like to know what the score at half time was and when did Coach Jones pull out his starters and insert his bench. Even still, chances are that Madison Prep's 11-15 is light years ahead of anything Rosepine could put out there.
We are no longer in the regular season, it's the playoffs and Coach Jones has a right to let his kids go full speed and to make sure all of his players are all in. Plenty of schools have opted out of the playoffs before. Rosepine wanted the chance, so live with the results.

You can go to federal PMITA prison for point-shaving.

The girls bracket is just as bad. They've already had a couple of big blow outs like this.
I think Calvary sent their 8th grade team because they didn't realize they made the playoffs and the varsity already had priors
