Asik brings that trade value down. We are not going to be able to get rid of him. Mayyybe we could throw him in there somewhere for Nick Young, but even then I doubt it

Do you really think he's that much better than Jrue?

Offensively, hell yeah.
Defensively, hell no.

We don't honestly need more offense

The Pels just spent the bulk of their tradeable assets getting Cousins. The only "realistic" way to get a max level player is to get in the playoffs and make enough noise that someone like Gordon Hayward wants to join the Pelicans. If that happens they have enough assets to dump contracts and sign a FA max player, but they do not have the assets to trade for a Jimmy Butler or Paul George.

Or Damian Lillard

the only bad thing to come from the Boogie trade is now people think deals like that can happen all willy-nilly... and some will be legit disappointed when it doesnt

Damian is a All Star material on a yearly basis.....if the thought is that Jrue does NOT re-up....do we dump him and whatever for Lillard?

Agreed. Anyone who thinks another blockbuster is coming needs to realize that the cousins trade was really the first time that's ever happened in NOLA, at least where we received the star. That is, unless you consider the tyson Chandler move a blockbuster

If someone like Butler, PG, or Lillard are interested in coming to the Pels we just need to get them to kill their value by going rob a bank or something. Then we trade Asik for them.

I think the Pels need to add a perimeter shooter...

After the Boogie trade that's not a barometer anymore.

Trades for legit all-stars in their prime rarely happen even around the league unless a player demands a trade. The Cousins deal involved a lot of right time/right place. We should not have gotten him for so little, but now we really don't have the assets or space to trade for another star. Nor do we need to at this point.

We need to take these 25 games and figure out what we have and what works. Jrue seems like a great complementary PG for the two bigs. If after the season it looks like we need another piece at the expense of depth, then we can try to figure that out.

I know Jrue has some health issues at home, wife,, new baby....so if he says he's headed close to home to be with them or wants out....do we dump him today for Lillard? He will be a free agent soon...

There is 0 indication of that. His wife and baby seem to be doing great. Also you need 2 teams to trade and POR would not do that trade. Value is way off. Jrue fits the two bigs better than Dame too. Our bigs are high usage and Dame needs the ball. His perimeter defense is also garbage and perimeter D is going to be important part of making this team work defensively.

I also find Lillard being available a little unbelievable unless they are doing the same math that the Kings just did with Cousins and not wanting to pay him all that money to be their franchise player. Even that seems like iffy reasoning.
