New Orleans Saints DT Nick Fairley has reportedly decided to test the free agent market this offseason. And he may draw serious interest from some of the teams with cap space.

He's going to go where he gets the most money. So he could def walk. I don't like the idea of paying him based on his history

I have no clue if we will be able to resign him or not, but there is absolutely no reason any player should ever not "test" free agency.

I'd say the odds are not in our favor.

Oh he will be a saint, he's gonna resign or play the season on a tag.

He certainly deserves a big contract. We will regret letting him walk if he does. Pay him the 9M/yr and move on. We almost have a complete DL, we cannot upset the balance now. I agree Rankins looked pretty good, but that isn't enough of a reason to let Fairley walk. The kid wants to be in NOLA, there were quotes of him saying it earlier this year, he will stay if we give him a fair deal.

He had a great season and deserves to get paid. But, I'm not sure I'm okay overpaying for him. We have constantly overpaid for players and it doesn't work.

I look at the Patriots who never do it and they have five rings with a QB equal to ours in talent.

7-8 million a year is right at the edge I'd be uncomfortable with. 6.5 a year is where I hope we land. Over 8 million I say we let him walk we have two good young guys with onyamama looking solid at times and still a raw player.

We got him on that one year deal so he could get a big contract somewhere. I don't want us paying him based on that. While he played really well, I see an A. Haynesworth type future for him if he gets a big contract. Just IMO.

Well since you put "might not resign" in your question I would think you might not get any disagreement on this

Considering the history of the Saints FO of overpaying for FAs, I'd say there's at least a decent chance of him resigning.

He was arguably our best D-Lineman last year. Hopefully they can work out a deal. Can't blame him for testing free agency though.

hopefully he came come back with a decent deal and nothing too over the top.

Our D-line hasn't been very good the last few years but at times last year they looked a lot better and it was thanks to guys like him.

he made a few bone head penalties also though.

Can't have that.

If they don't then it is further proof that the FO is lost and
