That's why I ONLY prescribe the appliance I mentioned earlier. It's known as The Moses...named after the dentist who invented it, Dr Allen Moses.
Will have to ask my dentist about this one, he did not have a good opinion of these devices in general and pushed me away from them.

not every dentist feels comfortable treating this, I assure you

You're a good guy. Wish I was closer to you.

My wife's sleep apnea was bad. She went thru 2 sleep studies and finally decided that surgery was the way to go. The surgeon broke her jaw and moved it forward then put bars and screws in to keep it that way.

Reggie White died in his sleep from a sleep apnea induced stroke.

TAP appliances work for SOME people. I used them 20 years ago. IMO they don't have the adjustability and they require you to stay "locked" all night...meaning that your upper and lower arches cannot disclude say, for example, when you yawn. The Moses allows this freedom.

Yeah.. I don't like the sound of the last one. That'd probably be my last resort here.

Master rag, I've worn a cpap every night for 13 years....it's is not a FAT disease, it's mostly anatomical obstruction....or it could be central apnea and the OP statement that no one has died from sleep apnea is ridiculous...most go undiagnosed...when I first got my cpap I couldn't stand it either, now I can't sleep without it...it is actually my sleeping pill...my body recognizes it's time to sleep. I highly recommend it over dental appliances. At least for me. It takes a week or so to get used to it and your mask and ramp features will help you grow accustom to it. I had a mild stroke at an early age from apnea...best case scenario is you are tired because you get no rem sleep....worst case is stroke, heart attack, etc....it will change your life an energy level...and I'm not a "fatty"
Whether you are completely against cpap or not, do something! Anything better than nothing. I should also mention there are many styles of masks, I've tried them all...there is one for you....ramp features only blow small amount of air till you fall asleep, then ramp up to full prescription...I don't use it, but new folks find it helpful at first. Good luck

I have been using the Somnomed appliance for 2 years now and cannot sleep at night without it. The thing is a life saver.
I had the CPAP machine and could not stand the damn thing. After 2 weeks it got shoved under the bed.

that number, which is the number of times per hour that you either stop breathing or struggle to breath,is above 30-35 then you are best served with a CPAP.
2 times a minute
CPAP is best thing that ever happen to me.
