Im at the age where I'm starting to worry about heart, BP, and all that. I know my grandfathers life was cut short because of it and I don't wanna suffer the same fate. Plus I'm tired of waking up and feeling like I didn't get any sleep.

It's not necessarily about the systemic blood pressure. It's more about how sleep apnea causes alterations of the pressure within your chest which can in turn affect how your heart fills with blood as well as the pressure it takes to pump it out. And not in a good way. This over time leads to the problems we see in sleep apnea.

Gotcha. Are the effects reversible with proper treatment?

Have you had your tonsils removed? That helped me quite a bit.

No, but I've heard it's helped in some cases. My HS bball coach said it worked well for him, too.

My tonsils are infected as we speak and swelled up to the size of a quarter. They're better now. I've wondered the same.

This is not reversible short of serious changes...if you are overweight then losing alot of weight can help. Most of this is loss of muscle tonicity in the pharynx. But many patients are not overweight at all. By on large once you have it you have it.New treatment modalities are always being tried but surgical approaches are by in large not successful and very painful.

I was referring to the effects of the apnea on the body, are they reversible with treatment?

effects are immediately reversible with the proper treatment. problem is, once or if you stop treating it...whether CPAP or applaince...the negative effects come right back.
